Description

Montgomery, Runger, and Hubele provide modern coverage of engineering statistics, focusing on how statistical tools are integrated into the engineering problem-solving process. All major aspects of engineering statistics are covered, including descriptive statistics, probability and probability distributions, statistical test and confidence intervals for one and two samples, building regression models, designing and analyzing engineering experiments, and statistical process control. Developed with sponsorship from the National Science Foundation, this revision incorporates many insights from the authors’ teaching experience along with feedback from numerous adopters of previous editions.

User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐This book is great for any engineer that wishes to get firm understanding of statistics. As a student in engineering this book will continue to be with me long after I graduate to assist with understanding and as reference resource to find and use other statistical formulations with data collections and resultants.

⭐is the book I needed for class, pretty helpful and allows me to do my homework so all in all it’s pretty good

⭐Some of the chapters of the book is quite hard to follow what the author was trying to say, but what I really liked about this book was how they organized the chapters and the problems. After each chapter, there were many practice questions and they contributed to what was covered in the previous pages. I also liked how they had important notes and equations in green boxes which made it really easy to study. One improvement they could have done was the chapter with the chi-distribution. That chapter was hard to follow and the way they explained the p-values was a little confusing.

⭐I bought this book mainly for practice problems. I didn’t really read any of the lessons in the book because it was already taught in class. Nevertheless, there were tons of practice problems and I received a good grade in my statistics course. The book followed the curriculum closely.

⭐I did NOT find this textbook helpful at all. The senior year of my engineering program, we had to use this book in a statistics class and it was so frustrating! First of all, it doesn’t seem like an engineer was consulted in the writing of the book AT ALL! They try to use engineering terms and sometimes get it right. But the majority of the time the terms were used incorrectly. There are also way too many incorrect answers in the back of the book. I would try to check my answer with the back and be wrong and then spend the next hour trying to figure out what I did when I had been right all along. This was not a good learning resource. I don’t recommend it.

⭐Book came to me fast and was in perfect shape as it said. I can’t really talk much about the contents of the book as of yet because my class hasn’t gone over much of it yet.

⭐I ordered this book on the 13th of January and did not receive it until the 4th of February. I needed it for a college class; this was unacceptable. When I finally did receive the product, it was not as advertised. My book is red and softcover (despite being sold to me as hardcover and with the picture, white with a red bridge, in the thumbnail picture). I received a SI version, which was also not what I paid for. The print appears to be the actual material of the book used by my classmates, but in gray scale on cheap paper. It almost looks like someone photocopied by book and then binded it. The print is clear and readable. There is a sticker on the back covering up so writing that appears to something about only using the book for ____, which leads me to think that something fishy is up. It is also labeled for students in developing countries, which I am not. After paying almost $100 for something that was not delivered to me, I’m not sure if I will return the textbook or not because I am so behind in the class I can’t afford not to have the book in front of me at the moment (I have my first exam in 5 days). If you can avoid it, do not purchase from this company.

⭐Tons of typos

⭐i found this book somehow not easy to understand it needs strong statistics background . i m trying to get benefit from the book in my course it helps in providing more practices problem but you need the solution book tooi don’t recommend this book for anyone starting to understand engineering statistics it needs more advanced level
