    ⭐Excellent book!

⭐Like other recent publications, this book investigates the power shift away from American global supremacy. The author searches for successor countries, but he finds none. Looking at four different scenarios – the dual authority of America and China, or a Cold War between these two, or a Concert of Nations after the pattern of that of the monarchies of the 19th century, or a World of Regions – he concludes only the fourth choice, the World of Regions, is realistic. Here, different groups of countries gather around regional leaders and they compete one against each other quite possibly with mutual hostility, while global cooperation would be absent. In that setting, no worldwide unity would be available to tackle our numerous and necessary global tasks such as climate control, overpopulation, keeping peace on land and in cyberspace, food and water scarcity, and several others. What would America’s fate be in such a leaderless world? Choosing an optimistic stance, he envisions how this country could in the end still emerge as an “indispensable nation”, provided – taking recourse to America’s traditional strength, ingenuity, and adaptability – it takes a number of corrective steps. Among these are avoiding wars, reducing excessive defense spending, correcting the out-of-control financial system as well as a political system that seems broken beyond repair, reducing national debt, improving primary and secondary education, dealing with our deteriorating infrastructure, and a few more. Bremmer says, a leaderless “G-Zero” world would be unstable. A new era would certainly follow in which this country with some luck might still play a decisive role. Thus, EVERY NATION FOR ITSELF provides an informative look into the future and it is in various respects in agreement with similar recent publications. However, in this book as in others that look into humanity’s uncertain future, I miss the option of a global federation. It has been investigated for decades and its basic principles are well-known. It is feasible and would be curative of the disastrous blunders mankind has inflicted upon itself during recent generations. It would be a safeguard against most of the future threats listed in this book. It would be the obvious, next step forward in the evolution of human civilization. In fact, the history of civilization is impatiently knocking on the door, yet – you tell me why – world federalism is on nobody’s agenda.

⭐I had to read this book for a class. This book is really good. I definitely reading about a G-zero world and how that could potentially (or in the books case will definitely) affect the future of world politics and economics. There are some pretty good arguments that Bremmer mentions, for why he believes that, for at lease a little while, there will be no one ruling or group of ruling nations in the world. Considering I live in America, it was refreshing to get different outlook on what could possible happen in the future. Even though I had to read it for my class as part of my final grade, I really did enjoy reading about the nuances involved in international business and politics. I’d recommend it for anyone who has any interest in international relations of any sort.

⭐Very insightful look at current trends to look into the future, especially demographics and its profound effect on economy and future GDP growth. It points out that current policies if continued will lead to even bigger problems upstream and that we must think strategically, not tactically.

⭐Perception altering, highly recommended for anyone who – since the fall of the Berlin Wall – is increasingly unable to make sense of the power politics behind world events. For instance, since reading this book in the summer of 2016, brexit and Turkey’s turn towards Russia after the failed coup attempt are – I believe – thoroughly explained in bremmer’s description of so-called pivot States and I would not be surprised to see that every inch the UK moves away from the eu is merely another inch closer to North America.

⭐Bremmer’s G-Zero world resembles Charles Kupchan’s no one’s world. In their views, a new world order in which there is no hegemon is emerging. However, Bremmer believes that his G-Zero world is transitory and will be replaced by one of his four board scenarios or even the Scenario X. Given the diffusion of power, the diversity of national interests, histories and cultures, institutions and paths of modernity, I think international relations will not evolve around the US-China relations as predicted by Bremmer. Anyway, it is extremely hard to predict what shape the future US-China relations will take. As the title of Bremmer’s book ‘Every Nation For Itself’ suggests, it is natural to see a no one’s world since no one is able and willing to act as the sole provider of global public goods.

⭐:Bremmer provides an objective evaluation of the world of 2014. Since the book has appeared it is being proved true. There is no world police force to govern bad behavior. And no one wants the job. Putin has empowered the Thai military, the Chinese oil rigs and the Egyptian generals to do what they wish. ISIL too. A bracing read.

⭐This happens to be my first Ian Bremmer book. I have seen multiple Charlie Rose interviews and thought Mr. Bremmer passionate for his geo-political views. I must say that this maiden voyage did not offer much for me to discover, perhaps my next endeavor will be more revealing. To that I must add that this book of Mr. Bremmers G-zero prediction is most suitable as a cornerstone of basic knowledge. It is a candid light read, and I would recommend it for its last few chapters.

⭐Heard about it on radio. Bought as present. Interesting. Good service.

⭐Typical of Bremmer, who coined the term ‘G-Zero,’ this is really fascinating and an important subject matter written with unparalleled accessibility. The book is so clear and simple, it’s a joy to read.

⭐The guy is a guru in political consulting

⭐Enjoyed the book very much by this author. Initially you find yourself wading through (in fine detail many examples of the greatness of the US and it’s graceful input to the world) which seemed to be falling apart at the edges until the ‘great ole US of A stepped in’ and solved everybody’s problems….hmm? Once you have managed to escape from the swamp of American greatness, the book does have many positive points, as well as being difficult to put down! Slightly hypocritical from me, is the fact that the author ‘does’ offer much in the way of criticism of the US and it’s ability to make a number of fundamental errors in its International Relations on more than one occasion over the years. It is a very easy read which is a big plus point, I am relatively new to Global Politics but this was a great all-rounder which incorporates the world as a whole both good and bad, inclusive of its lack of real leadership. It does leave the reader with a serious after thought, the author is correct to suggest that collaboration is very much needed in order to try and rectify the many serious issues that we may be faced with in the not too distant future. Having just read “Global Politics” by Andrew Heywood this is a much nicer and easier to understand read I can assure you. I look forward to reading further literature from this author. Highly recommended for students reading politics or international security.

⭐Possibly the best read on the current movement to minimalist government and the rise of corporations in shaping our societies. This is the reality of 21st Century global politics
