He started out training business users on how to use IBM personal computers and their attendant computer software in the rough-and-tumble days of DOS, WordStar, and Lotus 1-2-3 in the mid-80s of the last century. After working for a number of independent training firms, he went on to teaching semester-long courses in spreadsheet and database management software at Golden Gate University in San Francisco. His love of teaching has translated into an equal love of writing. For Dummies books are, of course, his all-time favorites to write because they enable him to write to his favorite audience, the beginner. They also enable him to use humor (a key element to success in the training room) and, most delightful of all, to express an opinion or two about the subject matter at hand. Read more

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Didn’t really tell me what I wanted to know. But it did give enough pieces, that with online resources, I was able to figure out the formula I needed.

⭐I have yet to use one of these resources for DUMMIES that didn’t help and this one was no different. The information that I needed was right there easy to find. I have very little need for word processing and and spread sheets so I’m kind of out of date with my systems. I really appreiate being able to obtain an older manual that meets my needs.

⭐Good info.

⭐I hadn’t had any experience using Excel and ordered this book for help. It’s good for beginners and gives lots of good information and easy to follow tips. It is a big book but you can find answers to your questions quickly without reading the whole thing. I recommend it for “dummies” like me.

⭐I haven’t had time to dive into the book and practice but I know this will be my “bible” as I use Excel 2007 more and more. I strongly suggest getting this book if you are intimidated by learning Excel 2007. I bought it for the “dumb downed” explanations.

⭐Item was exactly as described.

⭐I ordered new instead of used. Paid a bit more for that. Not in very good condition when received. Disappointed in condition of product.

⭐Got it for my kids so they could do more with Excel, and found a few new tricks that an “expert” like me didn’t know how to do! Great reference, and easy to follow instructions. Even if you are an ‘expert’ with Excel, I’m willing to bet it will teach you come new tricks too!

⭐Well what can I say. I’m not a complete dummy with Excel, I can do very basic formulas, but I need to learn some more!!!Sadly, when this book arrived (speed of light) I realised just how bigger dummy I am. I just didn’t realise Excel could do all that. Oh well, I am learning. I don’t think I will ever be an expert, just more experienced than I am now.The book is huge (all 8 excel books in one) it covers everything, it is easy to use and will have you doing things with spreadsheets that you couldn’t have dreamed of. I’m very pleased with it.

⭐I’ve not done much with this since I purchased it but on having a quick flick through, I’m not sure it’s going to help me learn todo what I wanted to learn to do. Perhaps Im a bigger Dummy than the book is aimed at!! Condition was superb though and I wouldn’t hesitate to usr this seller again.

⭐Perfect for beginners

⭐very useful – got my as a second hand book to keep the cost down – described the damage very well so at the end of the day i was not disappointed although i don’t think it covers all aspects of Excel 2007 so i have not been able to answer all my queries but on the whole a decent book!

⭐I have used computers for many years but have never had to know too much about Excell. Now I need to and this is the book I need to find out all the answers. Especially at a 2nd hand price.
