Description
A chance encounter in the dark leads eighteen-year-old Daniel and the girl who stumbles across him to profess their love for each other. But this love has conditions: they agree it will only last one hour and it will only be make-believe.
When their hour is up and the girl rushes off like Cinderella, Daniel tries to convince himself that what happened between them only seemed perfect because they were pretending it was perfect. Moments like that with girls like her don’t happen outside of fairytales.
One year and one bad relationship later, his disbelief in insta-love is stripped away the day he meets Six: a girl with a strange name and an even stranger personality. But Daniel soon realizes that fairytales don’t exist, and unfortunately for Daniel, finding Cinderella doesn’t guarantee their happily ever after…it only further threatens it.

⭐ I’m not really sure what I just finished reading. I realized this was a novella so I knew it would be a short story. It wasn’t a bad book but it was unexpected. I wasn’t prepared for this to be entirely about 2 high school kids over the period of months or a year and a half, not exactly sure of that either – part junior year then part senior – I think. This was the first book I have read by this author. She was recommended to me and also popped up on a recommended reading list based on other books I have read. No one told me that it would be a YA and I’m not sure if that was typical or if this was different from her usual books. I’m fine with teens if we are going back to a period in the life or then going forward a few years but this seemed like it should have been for a young reader but not really Written for a young reader if that makes sense.I have Kindle Unlimited and most of her books cost additional money so I wanted to see her writing style before investing more money. I really hate to read a bunch of reviews or a sample of the books I choose because it often spoils the book. I guess in this case I should have read further. The book didn’t really set up the characters, give any background, or give any depth to the 2 kids. I didn’t really know Daniel or Six any better after I finished reading this. Too late, I found out this probably should have been read after another book. However one of the reviews I did read said this was a stand-alone love story so that was my approach. Not sure if I will read the other books that are part of this ?series? Still don’t know IF it actually is a series.

⭐This was my second Colleen Hoover romance to read. My first was All Your Perfects, which was AMAZING, but it was also very heavy and left me with some pretty deep feelings of sadness.Almost immediately after finishing All Your Perfects, I downloaded and started reading Finding Cinderella. This is a novella as opposed to a novel, so it was a very quick and easy read.I didn’t know much going into it and I think that was for the best, so I’m not going to give away much of the plot here (this is becoming a pattern for Colleen Hoover’s books). The story begins with a high school student named Daniel who, due to a scheduling glitch, spends 5th period every day alone in a maintenance closet. One fateful day, his solitude is interrupted when his own personal Cinderella quite literally falls into his lap and he becomes her Prince Charming. That’s it. That’s all anyone needs to know before going into this fun, heart-warming story.I loved everything about this book. The characters are so quirky and real. I’m 35 now, but my 17-year-old self would have had a major character crush on Daniel. He’s funny and outgoing, but he has a heart of gold. I would have wanted to be best friends with Six, who is the independent, low-maintenance, down-for-anything female lead. I also really enjoyed the friendship between Daniel and Holder and am excited to see more of them in Hopeless – which, technically, I should have read before this one, but I wasn’t aware of that at the time and it all worked out fine.Again, this is a novella, so the pacing is pretty quick. There isn’t a lot of time to delve into backstory or too much of Daniel’s thoughts. Most of the book is dialogue and action — not in a shootouts-and-car-chases kind of way, but in a high school romance kind of way. The overall tone is light and fun — I smiled and laughed my way through almost the entire thing. There are a couple of twists. One of them literally made me squeal out loud in my bedroom, BUT. I would not have caught this twist had I not already read All Your Perfects. That being said, having read AYP is not a requirement in order to enjoy this book. The only complaint I have about Finding Cinderella is that, at times, Daniel’s speech and especially his monologues with his significant other make him sound 25 instead of 17-ish. It was just off enough to make me raise an eyebrow and pull me out of the story briefly, but not enough to take away an entire star from the rating.
⭐ Ugh. I love the opening of this book–well, novella. Even though it is a 2.5 coming after the “Hopeless” duo, it can stand on its own. There is only a little portion at the end that might confuse people who have not read Hopeless or Losing Hope, but not much.I just attended a Colleen Hoover book signing event, and I needed to read a book of hers immediately. Just needed to. If you ever attend one of her signings, you’ll understand. She is magnetic and she makes you want to go home and binge them all! This was the first one I picked up. I don’t know why. It was there and available and an easy read. And that beginning chapter/prologue, shoot, it had me.The story is simple and sweet and addicting–as CoHo’s book typically are. It left me both fulfilled and wanting more simutaneously. I could read an entire series on Daniel and Six. For real. But at the same time, I loved where they ended up.
⭐ Okay, so this is book 2.5 in the нσρєℓєѕѕ series and the first thing I need to say is that reading this on a Kindle was kind of disappointing, since it apparently came with previews of two other books and therefore the book just up and ends at about 53%. Not even joking. I was hoping for more.Beyond this, though, I have to be honest in that this was not my favorite Hoover novel. While the plot was intriguing, it seemed to come second to her need to focus on the kissing scenes. The all-powerful and empowering kisses that are not comparable to anything else. I get this sentiment. I’ve felt it. But I’ve also read about it in every romance novel known to man, and Colleen Hoover, while she describes it well, she also describes it the same way in all three of the books in this series. Not only that, but she describes it throughout the entire book. And the book isn’t that long.Like I said, I did enjoy the plot. Hoover’s characters each have their own voice and personality, and that’s great. So ғɪɴᴅɪɴɢ ᴄɪɴᴅᴇʀᴇʟʟᴀ follows Holder’s best friend, Daniel, as he falls in love with Sky’s best friend, Six. That being said, there is far more going on than meets the eye, and in this book, readers finally get to find out what happened while Six was in Italy.Yet again, I did find myself questioning the validity of Hoover’s ability to write from a male perspective, as Daniel’s head-over-heels in love monologues seemed a bit out of character even for him. But I did appreciate the back and forth between him and Six in regards to their insults and grand distaste for everyone else.
⭐ “It only feels perfect because we’re pretending it’s perfect.” (237)After one year, the boy was all about searching for the girl he had a passionate interlude in the closet. Right off the bat, the concept became interesting.“In reality, people are who they are and they’ll never really change. So why the hell are Val and I even wasting our time on this exhausting relationship if we don’t even really like each other? (266)The character dialogue was reminiscent of Holden Caulfield—very entertaining. I loved the brutal honesty of the protagonist, Daniel. It was funny sometimes.I agreed with Daniel about the purse. Girls who don’t carry purses don’t carry make-up and perfume. That’s what made Six so beautiful and perfect for him. I liked that Six was as straight-forward as Daniel. Those two were so compatible in a lot of ways. But was Six “Cinderella”? I wondered. There was a good twist near the end. At times, it got a little too sappy with all the romantic love, but it was an enjoyable story nonetheless. I was especially impressed by how the author was able to accurately depict the thoughts of the teenage male brain.
⭐ Finding Cinderella: A Novella is by Colleen Hoover. This story actually got its start in another of her books. Hopeless. In it, Daniel does not have a fifth hour class so spends that time sleeping in the maintenance closet at school. The janitors do not use this closet during the day so it is private and quiet. It works for him, or it did.One day, the door popped open and someone lunged in and fell on top of him. By her voice and her feel, it was a girl or a woman, he wasn’t sure. She was crying so he did the only thing he could, he held her while she cried. After she stopped, they talked and then ended up making out. They traded nothing that would tell the other one who they were. He missed her when she left.A week or so later, she returned. They decided to take up where they left off and ended up making love in the closet. Once more, she left with no trace of who she was. He had called her Cinderella because the mops in the closet reminded him of Cinderella.Unwilling to not ever see her again, he began his search for his Cinderella. Instead of Cinderella, he ended up with Val, who he decided was crazy. Now he had to get rid of her and still find his Cinderella. It is a really cute novella and finishes off this one open point in the previous book.
⭐ “We all have deal breakers, Daniel. Some of us just hope we can keep them hidden forever.”If you’ve read the first two of the Hopeless series by Colleen Hoover you met Daniel, Holder’s best friend. This short story tells the story of Daniel and his Cinderella.I did not expect this to be an emotional read but why did I not expect that with a CoHo book? I absolutely loved reading Daniel’s story. His character is so funny and charismatic it’s hard not to like him. I love that he finally finds his Cinderella and his happy ending even tho he came with some heartache.Definitely recommended for the Coho lovers but highly recommend reading Hopeless and Loosing Hope first.
⭐ Does Colleen Hoover realize we would have paid big bucks for this novel? Loved, loved, loved it! The chemistry between Daniel & Six is so adorable as they fall head over heels for each other almost instantly but don’t really understand why. We know Daniel’s story, when he was hiding out in the maintenance closet & taking naps during high school when an unknown girl mistakenly came in and the rest is history. They couldn’t see each other but Daniel met this “Cinderella” & felt a kinship with her right away & they had some major romance in the closet, pretending to be madly in love, just to ease Cinderella’s sadness. Six is Skye’s best friend and she had a reputation for sleeping around quite a bit but now after her trip to Italy she has decided she doesn’t want to be that girl anymore. What Daniel loves is that Six is real – she is a normal girl with some secrets that she won’t reveal but she is fun & attractive & their kisses set off sparks. He can’t stand to be apart from her for a minute. When Six reveals her secrets & their instant chemistry makes more sense, Daniel has an incredibly poor reaction, very unlike the Daniel from the beginning of the book. It was realistic, sure, but it made me a little disappointed that he could hurt Six that much. I would love to read more about Daniel & Six! I need a sequel to find out what happens next!
⭐ I’ve had this in my TBR for a very long time. I hadn’t paid attention that it was part of a series starting with Holder and Sky’s gut wrenching story of inner strength and love. I had wondered about Six. Well, today I went searching in my list of books and found her story. The secrets she and Sky kept from each other showed not their weakness or even their most painful experiences. No. Their secrets were of strength and survival. And yet I’m sad they didn’t have each other through some of the hardest times of their lives. In the end, Sky had Holder. Six had only the idea of the young man she pretended to love one day for less than an hour. Less than an hour to change her life forever. Less than an hour to a nameless, faceless person who impacted her immensely.Daniel remembers Cinderella. She’s a dream and no one compares. Until Six. She’s everything. She fits bumps! She refuses to stroke his ego. He’s taken her to dinner, kissed her, met her family, and yet the most significant memory of her life and his is yet to be discovered. Life changing, really. Character building. Strengthening. When pretending turns into reality.Beautiful story of growing up and falling in love; flaws and all.
⭐ Short and sweet, but sadly not enough substance. This book really had a lot of potential, especially considering it’s also part of a series. The characters were underdeveloped, the plot was rushed, and it all felt like a quick fix to a problem that the author wished to address. I would have loved to see more of Six and Daniel between the year time-span that this short story covers. If it hadn’t been so sex focused and more plot focused, I think it could’ve been great. Sadly, it left me wanting and disappointed.
