⭐THE VERY BEST POST-MODERN PICTURE-BOOK: with any collection of essays, you are willing to trade off some less than stellar work for the one essay that drew you into the purchase. Many times, one great essay justifies the cost of the book. My target essay was that by Jean-Luc Nancy concerning Heidegger’s “wink”. But what I found was an additional four essays that were equally influential for me. The five essays I pooled together consisted of the following authors: Nancy, Jacerme, Shocz, Fielding, and Mitchell. These essays, when combined together gave me a vivid and articulate thought-picture of the composition-threshold of spirit in post-modern thinking. This is no small feat. You must have systematic, organized, interrelated material for that picture to occur. I have read a large volume of post-modern material and I can say with assurance that this collection of five essays is a true compilation of an “image-on-canvas”. And likewise, the reader will receive detailed explanations of obscure post-modern concepts like: standing-in, the turn, measure, the clearing, proto-culture of proximity, and the resultant work of inscription and contribution to sign-construction. This all brought me into inscribing in my unconscious a precise thought-picture that I can recall again and again as a filter for future post-modern thinking. Published five years ago; it remains positively current with today’s dialogue. Of course, post-moderns have chosen to adopt Hegel’s psychology and Heidegger’s existentialism approach to “being” as their “non-foundation” type foundation. So you can see why this book is essential reading. I will throw one more book at you: Malabou’s “the Heidegger change”. This is also essential reading if you are going to fully grasp the hermeneutical implications of all these essays. Be assured; I highly praise this edited collection and recommend it to all thoughtful philosophers and lovers of thinking. Enjoy painting your picture.
