Description

Cryptography, in particular public-key cryptography, has emerged in the last 20 years as an important discipline that is not only the subject of an enormous amount of research, but provides the foundation for information security in many applications. Standards are emerging to meet the demands for cryptographic protection in most areas of data communications. Public-key cryptographic techniques are now in widespread use, especially in the financial services industry, in the public sector, and by individuals for their personal privacy, such as in electronic mail. This Handbook will serve as a valuable reference for the novice as well as for the expert who needs a wider scope of coverage within the area of cryptography. It is a necessary and timely guide for professionals who practice the art of cryptography. The Handbook of Applied Cryptography provides a treatment that is multifunctional:It serves as an introduction to the more practical aspects of both conventional and public-key cryptographyIt is a valuable source of the latest techniques and algorithms for the serious practitionerIt provides an integrated treatment of the field, while still presenting each major topic as a self-contained unitIt provides a mathematical treatment to accompany practical discussionsIt contains enough abstraction to be a valuable reference for theoreticians while containing enough detail to actually allow implementation of the algorithms discussedNow in its third printing, this is the definitive cryptography reference that the novice as well as experienced developers, designers, researchers, engineers, computer scientists, and mathematicians alike will use.

User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐To Whom it May Concern,This book is firstly an e-gift/giFt to XKW Lee the informist in year 1999, then now in June 2013 a paper copy will become both a present & a cash paid product. From Xpree KW LEE on 30Jun2013 & 02Aug2013 GMT+8.URL: […]

⭐The book is encyclopedia in the field of Cryptography especially when it first appears during 1997. However, after more than 13 years, the book has not been updated. The field of cryptography has evolved dramatically since that time. New ideas, new protocols, new theories have emerged. But unfortuanly the book has not been updated to cover these new materials. I have personally talked to the first author in 2002 and informed that he has no intention to upgrade the book. But at the end of the day, the book is unique and required for any person working with Cryptography.

⭐A delectable, encyclopedic approach to a fascinating subject. The volume contains some outdated and perhaps insecure material. Great as a reference.

⭐Needed this book for a masters course, you can get the entire book free online but I don’t work well with online copies of textbooks and I didn’t want to print the entire thing. The book was like $100 to get a print copy which seems egregious since the PDF is free. Otherwise it is a good, informative book on cryptography

⭐Excellent one

⭐excellent intro to crypto book

⭐The bible of cryptography

⭐Hi,I owned previous editions of this book and consider it as a must have. However, the book I received was printed very badly and the text / formulae are blurry which makes it painful to read.I returned it once to get a replacement and the replacement had the same issue. Not acceptable for a $90 book!

⭐My professor used primarily this book to teach our cryptography course. I felt like it broke down very complex concepts that would allow anyone with some basic maths and logic skills to understand them. Perfect for any computer science undergrad.

⭐The printing quality of this book is horrible.Font is very low resolution and the colour is greyish, not black. It is readable, but looks horrible.Every other page suffers from light grey blemish underneath the text and images.Overall, the whole book looks like it’s been scanned from the original source.I’m thinking of returning this item. I know there exists a good quality print, as I’ve seen one in a library.Perhaps there’s one in Amazon, but this is not it.

⭐As mentionned by Sam, the printing quality is not acceptable. The whole book seems to be printed in low DPI mode from a poorly compressed JPEG picture. Too many artifacts are visible around the letters, making some schemes barely readable. The book is freely accessible from the author’s website. What’s the point of giving money then ?

⭐I really loved this book.It contains a deep analysis of cryptographic techniques and protocols,a good introduction on the underlying mathematical theories, anda great deal of bibliography and further references. Its only problem is that it is a bit outdated.

⭐I needed that book to explain to my daughter what is Cryptography in terms of Math and to show some examples. Great book. Worth each cent paid.
