Baig writes the weekly Personal Technology column in USA TODAY and is co-host of the weekly USA TODAY’s Talking Tech podcast. He is also the author of Macs For Dummies, 9th Edition, for Wiley Publishing. Before joining USA TODAY as a columnist in 1999, Ed spent six years at Business Week, where he wrote and edited stories about consumer tech, personal finance, collectibles, and travel, among other topics. He received the Medill School of Journalism 1999 Financial Writers and Editors Award for contributions to the “Business Week Investor Guide to Online Investing.” That followed a three-year stint at U.S. News & World Report, where Ed was the lead tech writer for the News You Can Use section but also dabbled in other subjects. He recalls fondly putting together features on baseball card investing, karaoke machines, and the odd things people collect, including Pez dispensers, vintage radios, and magic memorabilia. Ed began his journalist career at Fortune magazine, gaining the best basic training imaginable during his early years as a fact checker. Through the dozen years he worked at the magazine, Ed covered leisure-time industries, penned features on the lucrative dating market and the effect of religion on corporate managers, and also started up Fortune’s Products to Watch column. Bob LeVitus, often referred to as “Dr. Mac,” has written or co-written 50 popular computer books, including Dr. Mac: The OS X Files and Mac OS X Leopard For Dummies for Wiley Publishing; Stupid Mac Tricks and Dr. Macintosh for Addison-Wesley; and The Little iTunes Book, 3rd Edition and The Little iDVD Book, 2nd Edition for Peachpit Press. His books have sold more than a million copies worldwide. Bob has penned the popular Dr. Mac column for the Houston Chronicle for the past ten years and has been published in dozens of computer magazines over the past fifteen years. His achievements have been documented in major media around the world. (Yes, that was Bob juggling a keyboard in USA Today a few years back!) Bob is considered one of the world’s leading authorities on Mac OS. From 1989 to 1997, he was a contributing editor and columnist for MacUser magazine, writing the Help Folder, Beating the System, Personal Best, and Game Room columns at various times. In his copious spare time, Bob heads up a team of expert technical consultants who do nothing but provide technical help and training to Mac users via telephone, e-mail, and Internet-enabled remote control software, which allows them to see and control your Mac no matter where in the world you may be. If you’re having problems with your Mac, you ought to give them a try.
Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐I am a tech geek and I do buy Dummies books because for some items, Wiley is the only publisher that will issues guides for items I am looking for. This book is an excellent example. iPhone for Dummies covers the original iPhone, NOT the 3G version. That said, it is still a great read. I bought this book because I was interested in an iPod Touch which is an iPhone without the phone. This is an easy to read, fun and informative book with lots of usage tips. There are wonderful, full color shots that show off the screen and features of the iPhone. Many of the gripes about missing features located at the end of the book, were added to the new 3G version. Grab the 3G version of this book when it comes out. This book will give you inside tips that aren’t found in the manual. It is helpful for iPod Touch users as well. Quick start guides are one thing, but great tips make your device much easier to use. I have a co-worker who has an original iPhone and he was amazed that I knew more about his device than he did.
⭐Great book as all “For Dummies” books are.
⭐You could call it the missing manual..It’s a great book of all the basic info you need to know about your iPhone. I read it all in one sitting on the train and was good to go afterwards using my phone and knowing almost more than my friends
⭐Got it in great amount of time… Was perfect for my needs… Mailed it off to a friend as a reference! Thanks!
⭐The iPhone does so many things that the lay person can feel a little overwhelmed. This guide breaks down all of the wondeful functions into an easy to understand format. I’ve been a fan of Dr. Mac from back in the day. The reason being: He makes the Mac world accessible to everyone. This book is a must have for iPhone owners!
⭐Found what I needed and moved on. Certainly loaded with information to make me a master if wanted to be.
⭐I read the book and most of the time I have no idea what it is trying to say. I have been having a lot of flashbacks to my school years and find myself somehow in a cornor of a room with a dunce cap on and kids (do not know where they came from) but throwing spitballs at me and laughing. My only saving grace is that I have tecnonerds kids and they help me out. Their should be a book for iPhones for the terminally stupid.with lots of pictures and large print.
⭐way out of date I expected info on iphone 5 but there was none.may be ok for first iphone out
⭐Although I’m no great admirer of the USA and all things American I have to say that this book is so slanted States-wise as to render the mildest of information-seekers speechless with annoyance: I doubt if 10% of the information available applies to product purchased and used in the UK.
⭐Helped to get going
⭐Absolute waste of money. Everything you really want to know it says ask a friend! Network details non existent. Authors try to be clever and fail.
⭐A brilliant copy, useful for help easily ,many thanks, trusted sales,
