⭐I happen to have a copy of this rare book by Leon Simon in my hands, and no you can’t have it….I’m not even sure if the publisher, the CMA, still exists. Last time I looked on a map of the ANU, it showed something other than mathematics occupying the CMA’s old Hanna Neumann building (where I used to work once upon a time for a while).This book is a typescript, typed with a golf-ball typewriter I think, but the typing is very good, especially considering the quite complicated equations. Concerning content, I’ll just give the 8 chapter headings, since readers of this review are very unlikely to obtain a copy of this book.1. Preliminary measure theory. [Includes Hausdorff and Radon measures.]2. Some further preliminaries from analysis. [Includes BV functions.]3. Countably n-rectifiable sets.4. Theory of rectifiable n-varifolds.5. The Allard regularity theorem.6. Currents.7. Area minimizing currents.8. Theory of general varifolds.The emphasis on area minimization and variational methods corresponds, apparently, to Leon’s research interests at that time.
