Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I read the Kindle version of this book tonight and could not put it down. It’s on my lap top, so I could follow along with everything he taught. It was so easy I was ready to go out and teach a beginners class using this book as a text book. But, the deeper I got into the book, the less I understood, but it’s to be expected. I wasn’t going to learn it all in one setting. When I bought my Mac I had planned to take classes, but because of various emergencies, I never had time to take them. I ended up learning enough on my own by trial and error to get by, but nowadays, it’s simply not enough. I find that I’m limping along where I should be running–then tonight, to learn so much in only one setting–I am thrilled. I love the way he teaches, he makes it fun and enjoyable. Now I feel encouraged to learn much more. And what a value! At $2.99 I couldn’t have asked for more. I will not hesitate to get other books by this author. One more thing. I was afraid I wouldn’t like this book on Kindle but it’s perfect because I can experiment on my laptop as I read. I will be spending a lot of time with this book over the next few week. The best thing of all, I feel confident, from just what I learned tonight, that soon, I will be a reformed “Mac-Dummy.” Many thanks to the author–Bob LeVitus.

⭐This book offers a beginners overview of the new Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Topics range from turning on the Mac to simple networking. Bob LeVitus does a great job touching upon most features of the new release. However the nature of the ‘For Dummies’ books are meant to be kept short and sweet. Some topics I felt could of been discussed in greater detail and some topics could of been slimmed down. He does constantly repeat that the built-in Help will answer most questions and that the Apple website offers a wealth of knowledge. I would liked to have read more on the security and less about the different ways to save a document. This book is very light on the technical workings of the operating system. Mr. LeVitus does include the keyboard shortcuts for everything though.I am new to Mac’s. I found this book useful. The chapter that discussed widgets I found was very informative. Two other chapters I thought were neat were chapter 22 – a list of useful Mac websites and chapter 19 – a brief chapter on how to troubleshoot hardware.

⭐This book of assistance for those of us who do not know this program, has proven to be a great place to search for and find answers to questions that seem to occur on a constant basis. Even though just having received this book, and having looked at and read as much as I have been able to, a friend of mine also looked at this book, and found it useful, too. I recommend this book for all who have not been able to find a tutor or teacher.

⭐This review pertains to the Kindle version only… Mac OS X Snow Leopard for Dummies is a 4-5 star book, but the Kindle version greatly disappoints. There are numerous illustrations and screen shots in the book, many of which are crucial to view to put the text in perspective. Unfortunately, the Kindle version, at least the standard Kindle 2, does not portray these illustrations in a readable fashion. While it is possible to position the cursor over the illustration/screen shot and enlarge the image to a more viewable size, the enlarged image is not readable due to very poor resolution — it becomes very pixelated. I would not purchase this type of book again for my Kindle and would only purchase it in printed form. I had hoped to be able to read the Kindle version while traveling and get a head start to understanding the operating system on my new iMac, but the Kindle version of the book is of little value and a general waste of time to read.Having said all that, all is not lost. The Kindle DX may show the illustrations in better form due to its larger screen; you DX owners would have to be the judge of that. Also, Amazon lets you load Kindle titles you have purchased onto your PC for free (a small, free software download is required). I did that with this title and it is eminently readable. Therefore, while I can’t effectively read this title on my Kindle, it is readable on my Windows laptop.

⭐I am still reading and trying to apply what I read. I find that it contains information good for a beginner up through a more advanced user. It is easy to understand and allows us “dummies” to organize and use the tools existing on a MAC. I appreciate the examples used as well as the humor. It is helpful to finally do what my grandchildren have been doing for ages!

⭐I just wouldn’t be able to use my new iMac comfortably without Mac OS X Snow Leopard for Dummies. This is an easy read, detailed tour of my computer. Since this is my home computer I have no Information Systems Dept to call for backup. Of course, I could call Apple for help, but Dummies answers my questions before I even know how to formulate them.

⭐AAAAA+ Seller.., Prompt Delivery.., Item As Described.., THANKS !

⭐Upgraded my Mac to snow leopard and found there are some features I needed more information about. I have used the “Dummies” books for other things and found them to be somewhat entertaining as well as a good source of information. Found this book at a very reasonable price.

⭐After years on Windows, I took the plunge and invested in the awesome Macbook. The problem was, it was like starting from scratch and having to learn a completely new way of working and surfing. After several hours browsing I decided Mac OS X Snow Leopard for Dummies was the best bet and I seem to gave made the right choice. The book is easy to follow, either from page one and read as and educational tool, or like me, use the index and learn about what you want – when you want. There were several things I needed to know straight away and this book came up with the solutions I needed within minutes. So, if like me, you’re a novice to the joys of a Macbook and OS X then invest a few £’s and buy this book. It’ll get you kick-started in the right direction and become an invaluble tool for future referance.

⭐If you struggle with an AppleMac or MacBook after years of good old Windows machines, this lifts the lid pretty well. Snow Leopard X is oh so different in doing the same tasks, thus this publication is a good entree. Having said that, once read, it will sit on the shelf until you get stuck again. There are other more detailed and costly publications, but this one is a good starting point.

⭐It is extremely unfortunate and very misleading of Amazon not to clearly state that their copy of this Dummies book (and other titles too) is a print on demand version. The paper and print quality are both inferior to the Wiley original, and worst of all there are no colour illustrations, everything is black and white. Returned for a refund and had to buy another copy from a marketplace seller, very time consuming and inconvenient.

⭐Anyone new to Macs should buy this book. It’s easy to dip in and out of to find immediate answers to a problem. By doing a little bit of reading I solved a computer/printer issue – Apple were unable to do this, as were Hewlett Packard. So well done The Missing Manual Team.

    ⭐Very helpful book
