Description

Dealing with mechanics and the solving of mechanical problems with the help of pure mathematics, this A-Level text introduces at an early stage an appreciation of the properties of vectors. Throughout the book problems are solved using vector methods where appropriate, and many worked examples are provided to illustrate each main development of a topic. A set of straightforward problems follows each section, and a selection of more challenging questions appears in the miscellaneous exercises at the end of most chapters, with multiple-choice questions on most topics.

User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐A good resource for higher math with great examples and test exercises.

⭐This text is for A-level students and can get you through the exams with fantastic grades even without having a teacher. The authors give really good explanation for all the concepts. This book and the others by Bostock & Chandler can also be very useful for brushing up on calculus, mechanics and statistics for those students who are starting a masters program after a hiatus of a few years. And by the way I did A-levels and am doing my masters

⭐I am a mathematics teacher. I have been teaching high school and college students for a great number of years. This book is tailored for A Level students and this is probably why it survived the onslaught of years. The authors fail in stating accurate definitions and lack rigor in their derivations.

⭐Great book used this for my A Level in Mechanics in 1990. I’ve lost my original copy and wanted something well written to help my son with double maths.I’ve read every word in this book and know it to be well set out and understandable.

⭐Fantastic book if you’re trying to learn mechanics. Albeit the statistics is very brief, the mechanics is explained fully and is easy to understand. You will need a strong pure mathematics background to comprehend the book however.

⭐Very impressed with the mechanics part, which is well explained. Very disappointed with the probability part which is restricted to a tiny section at the end of the book.

⭐A classic from A-levels. Need it for me child now

⭐This book is a must if you are studying Stats and/or Mechanics. Traditional format of questions, lots of them & well graded. If you are aiming for a top grade, buy it!
