User’s Reviews
Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐Not what I expected but better I was expecting a big heavy text book but I got a nice small book.
⭐I needed this for a graduate level ethics class.
⭐Needed it for school though I think it was over priced.
⭐Good book
⭐The guide was very clear and precise in providing information that I needed to complete a school project. I was very pleased with the style of writing, because it was not too technical, but easy to understand. I would definitely recommend it to others.
⭐It’s super small book fits anywhere. And the content is great.
⭐The product I received was not the product shown above. It was a 2006, print out version of the book stapled together. Very upsetting to say the least.
⭐I loved this book. If anyone forget what ethics is this is just a great reminder. This should be on everyone’s DNA, code of conduct sometimes are no longer being followed or just forgotten.
⭐I’ve used the Paul and Elder model to teach critical thinking in HE over many years but have always found it difficult to help students learn how to incorporate that ethical dimension into their thinking and problem solving. I believe this stems from both the inherent difficulty (as well as my own) of adequately conceptualising those underpinning ethics, and in applying and motivating their application to a particular question – of course this assumes that the question at issue has a relevant ethical dimension. As a result I’ve found this guide to be a valuable addition to the Paul and Elders’ Thinkers Guide series. Although this guide can be used without knowing about Paul and Elder’s model of critical thinking (CT), it will increase its value if you do. As an aside, I have found their CT model to be the most consistent, usable and widely applicable model for improving the quality of ones thinking of any of the approaches that I’ve explored in the CT literature. If you are already familiar with the Thinkers Guide series and were concerned that this guide might be ‘more of the same’ then be assured that it is not. Admittedly, there is some of the (occasionally tedious) repetition of content that appears throughout this Thinkers Guide series but this is arguably an unfortunate consequence of using a guidebook approach. It is perhaps worth adding that if you are also interested in understanding why ‘moral/ethical’ thought and behavior are so inherently challenging then Jonathon Haidt’s book “The Right Mind…” offers an illuminating introduction to this problem from an evolutionary social, psychological, behavioral and brain science research perspective.
