User’s Reviews
Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐If you are just getting started using the math side of LaTeX, this is an excellent book. It will easily get you started on your first couple of dozen math articles, even books. You will need to be doing some very difficult formatting before you need to find a “more advanced” book. I’ve been doing math in LaTeX for a couple of decades and can’t recall ever needing more “tricky” formatting than this book provides. I have 5 LaTeX books that are so well used that I have had to replace them–I’m on my third copy of Lamport’s book and got this new copy because my existing “More Math…” (an earlier edition) was falling apart after at least a decade of use.
⭐Typo in the Fifth Edition!I own a previous edition of the same book by this same author.I bought the fifth edition to be up-to-date on Latex.I was astonished to find a mistake/typo on page 6.To typeset Latex, the book shows the command is la. This produces an error. The correct command is LaTex.I don’t know what other mistakes i am going to find. Sorry I bought this book. There are numerous errors in this book.Another one:On page 136, see ~eqref{E:int} produces an error when compiled under MiKTex.There are several other errors in this book. Astonishing for a fifth edition!
⭐You won’t need much more, if anything else, than this book to get started in LaTex.
⭐The book is nicely written and easy to follow. The author provides a source of sample files to practice with.
⭐This is the best book for doing LaTeX and mathematical typesetting.
⭐I have browsed a few LaTeX books and found the fourth edition of Gratzer’s book to be a very good resource. As its title suggests, the book is particularly useful for people who use mathematical features of LaTeX. Strongly recommended for students at all levels as well as researchers!
⭐The formatting in the Kindle version of this book is terrible. At 60$, having to spend the minute and a half to buy and return it, trust is being spent.
