User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I picked this book up based on some Networking Cheat Sheet with codes that a team member sent me. The links for this cheat sheet lead to this book which sounded great but it is really just basic and not what I was looking for. I am finishing up my AS in Network Engineering and for a Capstone project I wanted to get more information on VLAN’s and the commands. That is not here. There are two pages telling what VLAN’s do but nothing more. Unfortunately this does not seem to the be the book to use as a technical guide but a far reaching overview of everything.Update: I brought the book into school for the professors to review just in case I missed something but they all agreed it was pretty basic information that we had covered in our classes. The CISCO reference book is your best resource if you want book to reference. Thanks

⭐First class all-in-one book about networking principles. However, buyers planning to set up a small Windows peer-to-peer or home wireless network should probably look elsewhere. The focus of this book is on larger switched Ethernet networks in a business or academic setting.

⭐Great book! Explains everything you need to know about how to setup networking for the everyday hobbyist and professional.

⭐Perfect for those needing more guidance when trying to take CompTIA networking.

⭐This was a gift for my grandson. I haven’t heard anything from him about it so I can’t really say.

⭐Well written.

⭐Great book

⭐Just what I expected to learn from this book. Got book to learn as much as I could about the subjects covered in book. Figured I could keep system up and running if I knew a little about subject.

⭐I bought this for work. IP comms and networking is a big part of what we do to facilitate our projects. We have some amazing experts but it can often feel impenetrable for those who are accountable for the results. Also for new starters who haven’t “lived” the industry we are in.This book is great. It sets expectations of basic IT literacy (ie using windows) and then takes you through all of the concepts from the ground up bit by bit. A few chapters in and you won’t be a pro but you will understand what’s what!Yes I’m sure it’s all available via web search but what I like about these guided introductions is that the writers know what you need to understand and in what order. Web searching is a minefield in these topics.Excellent choice and already well thumbed

⭐* PhysicalThis book has 948 + pages in a paperback format. It has many images and well-sized text.* Target Audience, A-level, H.N.D, Undergraduate, Post Graduate, Masters? This book in my estimation is ‘H.N.D Networking’ level. Similar to ‘Windows 10 Inside – Out, Microsoft Press. Bott, et. al* What does it cover?BOOK 1, Networking Basics, BOOK 2 Understanding, BOOK 3 Network Protocols, BOOK 4, Implementing a Network, BOOK 5 Implementing Virtualisation, BOOK 6 Implementing Windows Server 2016, BOOK 7 Implementing Linux, BOOK Managing a Network, BOOK 9, Managing Cybersecurity, AppendixA,B Index* What’s the best bits then?I have read this book three times. It took me around three hours plus each time. Its design is many big reference books that have 10% gold, 90% references that are really rarely used in reality. All of these book topics is well explained. The networking hardware side was illuminating, even the installation of Servers 2016, Linux was an interesting background read. Although bit spartan. The hardware and networking design explanation is fun to read, as it was very well explained.* SummaryThis book is ‘H.N.D Networking’ level and is well explained. It’s given me insight into how networks operate.

⭐I wanted an easier book to read to understand the production and allocation of IP addresses as well as understanding Network problems. but unfortunatly has not sorted out my Network problem with my computers running Win 10 and the complete lose of being able to get on my network mapped drives on one computer where as the other computer running Win 10 and both up to date this one seems to loose the network mapped drives after a couple of days and with this one i restart and the come back for a while cant do this with the other one. same thing happens to my laptop as well. My cameras also loose connection for up to between 20-38 hours the come back on line but onlyone at a time and surprisingly in exactly the same order then a gap for 2-3 weeks and it starts all over again.

⭐I have benefited from learning the general subject matters. it is very easy to read, which is why I will give it 4 stars – that is its strong point. I just think it could go into more technical details, and get a bit more hands practical with some of the subject matters. But a great book for anyone who needs to know enough about a lot

⭐Item arrived in good time and was well packaged. Excellent information about networks and networking. Very well written good blend of background information and full of great practical tips. Would highly recommend.
