⭐Ethics, of course, can be tricky; hence, we can use all the useful ideas about it that we can get. This work is Aristotle’s rationalistic work about right living, or doing the right thing. It is a wonderful exposition to which I was originally introduced in college and have revisited since. Aquinas utilized Aristotle’s model for his own writings about ethical behavior. It is a great treatise about what we in the West still consider when we think about ethics. Finally, since justice is a sibling of ethics, the two should be considered together, particularly when making decisions about right behavior in the world today. An example would be distributive justice: how do I ensure distributive justice without a sense of the right?

⭐This is a first read for anyone involved in decision making, anyone. Fundamental in tone and application. Aristotle is as relevant today and when he walked the Earth. I am trying to incorporate this work into our school curriculum at an early grade, probably third grade as the need to learn ethics is so important in our children becoming good citizens. The job of teaching basic life skills seems to be placed on public schools in and ever increasing fashion. With both parents working in many cases and the time at home together so compressed, fundamental decision making skills appears to be relegated to a lower priority in the home learning environment. Follow-up interviews with graduated students brings to light their regret in not having learned better habits while they were in their local school.Once you have fully understood Aristotle’s writing, if that is possible, you will have a basic understanding the the need, function, and meaning of developing good ethics and the value they play in enabling one to reach their “Golden Mean” and truly enjoy all life’s offerings.

⭐The book is littered with typos, rendering some sentences nearly incomprehensible. I’m not quarter way through the book, and I lost count of the typos and grammatical errors, but they’re already in the double digits. By the end of book, I assume it’d be triple digits, but that is just an assumption, I haven’t completed it.The book was printed on the day I ordered it funny enough, so that may have something to do with it. I didn’t know these books were printed on demand. Either way, they should have the format ready. All you would of have to do was do a spell check, there would be numerous red lines clearly visible.Overall, it’s comprehensible and if you’ve gotten this far that you’re reading Aristotle, you’ll be able to make sense of the typos and understand what is being said, although it might take you a minute or two to do that.Amazing how this made it on to Amazon. Amazing.

⭐While reading several journal articles that quote Aristotle’s Nichomachean Ethics, I thought that it was time for me to own a copy. I prefer digital for this (as it relates to school) so I can annotate and search for the quotes I read in journal articles. The problem with this edition is that it uses “non-standard” translations for key terms–I say “non-standard” in that none of the quotes in the articles I’m reading are searchable in this edition. However, at this price (.95 cents!) it is still worth it to own to read. I will have to decide if I need another version of this same book that uses a more common translation in modern academia.

⭐Although the cover has an incorrect spelling of the title, the rest of the book is without error. Classic Aristotle writing.

⭐In this teaching Aristotle meticulously describes the circumstance, thoughts, and language of relationship and ethical actions in a way that causes sincere reflection of the same meaning of those words in the 21st century. The insight gained allows one to view with a better perspective the outside world and their ability to participate in it.

⭐This is a tremendous book, particularly for readers interested in moral ethics and similar topics. Books such as this are so important, yet, they are in danger of becoming obsolete in view of the culture we live in today.

⭐Any serious student of literature must be familiar with Nicomachean Ethics. Aristotle’s ideas about virtue and friendship are especially important for their impact on Shakespearean drama.
