He is organizer and chair of many interdisciplinary symposia and workshops on this topic and has edited books on the topic. Benno Rumpf works within his group on topic problems of nonlinear dynamics. He is responsible for the research activities on nonlinear wave processes and discretes breathers. Heinz-Georg Schuster heads the Department of Theoretical Physics at the Christian Albrecht University Kiel, Germany. His research activities include the study of nonlinear systems by methods of statistical mechanics, applying analytical as well as numerical tools. Motivations are taken from neurobiological and biologically adaptive systems in order to design statistical models of their basic properties.
