Description
Arguably one of the most complex emotional disorders, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is surprisingly common. Furthermore, most people at some time in their lives exhibit a smattering of OCD-like symptoms. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder For Dummies sorts out the otherwise curious and confusing world of obsessive compulsive disorder. Engaging and comprehensive, it explains the causes of OCD and describes the rainbow of OCD symptoms. The book shows readers whether OCD symptoms represent normal and trivial concerns (for example, a neat freak) or something that should be checked out by a mental health professional (for example, needing to wash hands so often that they become raw and red). In easy to understand steps, the authors lay out the latest treatments that have been proven to work for this disorder, and provide practical and real tools for living well long-term. Whether you or someone you care about has this disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder For Dummies gives you an empathic understanding of this fascinating yet treatable mental disorder.

⭐This is an excellent, logical, well-written and encyclopedic discussion of OCD. Any family member, a friend or a victim of OCD should find this book has a sympathetic and friendly tone, Although the authors are knowledgeable, they avoid being pompous, scary or preachy. Many with OCD don’t realize the un-invited thoughts in their minds and the compulsive behaviors they have doing…might be eliminated and remove a lot of trauma and wasted time from their lives. Because of their OCD, victims may have encountered rude, mean people who treated them like they were crazy. Those bad experiences from having OCD for several years sometimes makes victims wary of psychiatrists and psychologists. If you suspect that you have OCD, this is a good first book for you to curl up with in private… and start thinking about how you think. For most people, OCD can be cured, and the former victim can become much happier. If you still need help, ask your family doctor to refer you to an OCD specialist. They really can help..
⭐I was recently diagnosed with OCD, and desperately wanted something to learn more about it. A I don’t have any of the typical outward symptoms. This is a great book for that! I didn’t want a workbook, I wanted something that would tell me about it, everything, not simply one person’s experience. I’m only a few pages in and it’s already helped me understand OCD better.
⭐I bought this book hoping to help my ex husband understand what goes on in my head. Needless to say, he never even cracked it open. But I read it and made my own notes. Be prepared for cold hard truth and facts galore.
⭐Great book. I purchased this book after being diagnosed with OCD and learned a lot. It is well written and very informative. I recommend it for thosw diagnosed with OCD and for professionals. I’ve seen many therapists who didn’t recognize my OCD as OCD I wish more therapists and doctors would read this!
