Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐This is a terrific resource for any artist starting out in pastels — and has much of value for any aspiring artist, full stop. The writing is clear, the concepts are concisely explained and lavishly illustrated, and the range of topics is such that this is really an art course in a book rather than a mere introduction to the pastel medium. I’ve read many art how-to books, having experimented with different media, and this is certainly one of the best. If you are interested in improving your pastel work or even just your drawing skills, I suggest that you buy this without hesitation.

⭐I did not know book was used &There was a page indicating it was a library book

⭐Each chapter had nuggets of information that was pertinent to every artist interested in painting with pastels. This book is so complete that I will find myself referring to it frequently.

⭐Perhaps, it is one the “most” complete book for pastel techniques. When you have to realize that for only 20 dollars, a teacher will not disclose all the trick of the trade. Once you realize that truth then this book serves the purpose. The dummies series books cover decently the essentials of the topic discussed and this book is no exception.

⭐This book filled in a lot of gaps for me and gave me a lot of confidence with my pastel work.

⭐As one only recently introduced to the art of pastel painting I need all the help I can get, and this book provides it! Written in easy to understand language, it covers all aspects and is arranged so that the beginner can access advice quickly and easily besides covering more advanced techniques and hints for those with more skills.

⭐This seems to focus more on drawing lessons than I was looking for. It also doesn’t have as much information on landscape painting. Overall, however, it is a good introduction to pastels.

⭐Should have heeded other reviews. This book is more about tools and mechanics than actually doing.

⭐This book is a comprehensive book of advice on the use of pastels. I found it very useful and the advice was sound. It ranges from health and safety advice to drawing and then preserving your picture, both during the drawing process and afterwards. I am very glad that I bought the book. I usually avoid how to paint and draw books like the plague. Pastels can be messy, but this book tells how to avoid the pitfalls and end with an un-smudged picture to be proud of

⭐Easy to follow and very informative a real learning aid

⭐New to pastels so found this book very good indeed

    ⭐great thanks

    ⭐very good
