Description

The third edition of this established classic text reference builds upon the strengths of its very popular predecessors. Organized as a broadly useful textbook Principles of Fluorescence Spectroscopy, 3rd edition maintains its emphasis on basics, while updating the examples to include recent results from the scientific literature. The third edition includes new chapters on single molecule detection, fluorescence correlation spectroscopy, novel probes and radiative decay engineering. Includes a link to Springer Extras to download files reproducing all book artwork, for easy use in lecture slides. This is an essential volume for students, researchers, and industry professionals in biophysics, biochemistry, biotechnology, bioengineering, biology and medicine.

User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Every peer-reviewed fluorescence paper cites this textbook when stating foundational information about fluorescence. This seems to be the unspoken bedrock upon which the last few decades of fluorescence research are based. It’s a comprehensive yet accessible read, great for onboarding any chemist, physicist, or related researcher/student into the processes and instrumentation for absorbance, fluorescence, and related processes. This book is on my desk (I’m a chemistry post-doc in a cancer research lab) and is my go-to reference for basic information that publications (primary and review articles) don’t easily provide or expect the reader to know. This book needs no introduction nor recommendation; it stands on its own merits and the recognition it receives via the consensus in its field.

⭐Of all the reference books I have on fluorescence spectroscopy, Dr. Lakowicz’s book is the most comprehensive. It is a masterpiece. His book covers many aspects of fluorescent biological systems but it also treats inorganic systems. The foundations of fluorescence and fluorescence spectroscopy are quite comprehensive and very well covered. This is an excellent text and reference book for any person involved not only in bio-related research, but in any discipline involving fluorescence.

⭐Nothing to do with rubbish collection of chapters made of friends and friends of friends and me-too sections, called books…This is an excellent book, as all useful reference books should be, like those of the old times: well written with a unique logic line, uniform notations and plots. Among others, quite low price for the quality of paper and number of pages. I would even say that this is a very good introductory book: it worked well with me, an EE.

⭐Hey! The book is great, in terms of content and quality. The only issue which I have realized today is that most of the pages in Chapter 9 (Mechanisms and Dynamics of Fluorescence Quenching) are missing (there is only 5 pages out of 20) and my return option is expired. If you already have this book (3rd edition, 2006) please look up if you have the same problem and comment.

⭐Good textbook

⭐It’s a good textbook. And it’s condition is great. The package protects the book well. The price is more competitive than other bookstore.

⭐Principles pf Fluorescence Spectroscopy is a great intro to intermediate text on fluorescence. Was used for my graduate level chemistry class on fluorescence.

⭐Great book for understanding fluorescence and spectroscopy. I’m an engineer and I had not problem understanding the material. Must have if you do optics experiments involving fluorescence.

⭐One of the seminal books on Fluorescence Spectroscopy, this latest edition does not disappoint. Full of clear diagrams, spectra., etc which can then be found online and used in lecture/teaching slides. It covers the basics well, though does presume some level of understanding of physical chemistry. I consider it to be the best book out there on Fluorescence Spectroscopy, covers everything in decent detail and has a wealth of references for those who want to delve in further. The new addition also covers the latest modern techniques. All in all, as a person who does a fair amount of emission work, this book will always have a place on my shelf.

⭐This is one of the best book I have ever read. Very well written and almost complete, considering also that the text is not extremely new.It contanis almost everything about fluorescence, expecially regarding the biochemical aspects. A must for everyone involved in fluorescence spectroscopy.

⭐From the first impression one gets while opening the book for the first time to the very last page, this book is simply the masterpiece.Giving the clear and comprehensive overview of all the aspects one needs to start with fluorescence spectroscopy to the more advanced topics.Simply put this book is must have for anybody doing fluorescence spectroscopy.

⭐Gran libro
