⭐This book is dense in the sense of Rudin (actually much denser); it packs a lot of material into a little space and that material can take hours for a grad student to decode. In other words, its the perfect textbook for an independent study! As a reference book, this is a good introduction to the state of differential equations *before* Lorenz equations were understood. Keep in mind that this was written in Russa during the Stalin era, and so some of the terminology is different. In particular, they refer to Gromwall’s Inequality as “The Fundamental Inequality.” The proofs are not that elegant, but they’ll give a modern student a good idea of where some numerical techniques come from. Without guidance, though, an untrained reader could be left completely confused as to the state of differential equations in the 1990’s. Don’t try this at home.
