Description

There is a positive side to solar-induced climate disruption: It may be counterintuitive: periods of high solar activity and high sunspot numbers – which are associated with a stable and more favourable climate – are also periods of increased mass excitability, war and genocide. In fact, throughout the last millennium, there were 4.6 times as many deaths from war, genocide and persecution during Grand Solar Maxima than there were in Grand Solar Minimum. In contrast, Grand Solar Minima – the ‘bad-weather periods’ – were times of relative peace, reason and of improvements of human rights. In the 1920s, the Russian scientist Alexander Tchijevsky discovered that social excitability, wars and rebellions unfolded primarily at the peaks of the 11-year solar cycles (Schwabe- cycles). I found that within the past 1000 years, what is true for the 11-years cycles, also applies to the non-periodical cycles of Grand Solar Minima and Maxima, recurring roughly every 200 or 400 years. The correlation coefficient of anthropogenic death rate per decade and Grand Solar Maximum condition is r= 0.9 (very strong correlation). Not only were most mass killings committed during these Grand Maxima, but the corresponding uprisings and rebellions mostly ended up in collectivist, totalitarian systems, that appealed to group hysteria, violent mob rule and imperialism. The narration of the history of this period is intended to illustrate this pattern and to warn of future repetitions. In addition to the multi decadal trends of wars and atrocities, we even find singular battles and mass violence in connection with the visible manifestations of high solar peaks, solar storms, visible sunspots and aurorae. This book is about our future as much as it is about the past, as we have most likely entered the next Grand Solar Minimum. The latest solar forecast by NASA predicts Solar Cycle 25 to be the lowest in 200 years, which will put us in at least Dalton Minimum conditions already in the next decade. This partly confirms the transition has most likely begun. When the final drop begins – given the trends of the last millennium continue – we are once more confronted not only with unpleasant material adaptation processes, climate downturn and food shortages, but ultimately also with a social mood of increased reason, relative peace and rationality. This can give us a time window of between several decades and 150 years to find out how we prevent the next round of mass killing and totalitarian injustice in the following Grand Solar Maximum. If we succeed, future generations may live in the most peaceful and constructive environment that the world has ever seen. To aid to the solving of the problem of a peaceful transition is the aim of this book.

⭐“Solar History: The Connection of Solar Activity, War, Peace and the Human Mind in the 2nd Millennium”, by Sacha P. Dobler, will change your view of human history and how events in faraway galaxies effect daily life here on earth. The book describes the history of solar maximums and solar minimums and how they appear to affect the incidence of wars and the development of humanity.Solar maximums are characterized by periods of time when the sun has lots of sun spots on its surface and is correlated with global weather that is very stable. The weather stability leads to high crop production and a rapid increase in population. It is also correlated to global leadership by dictators which allegedly cause massive wars, genocides and politically based mass starvation during these times.Solar minimums, in contrast, are periods with very low numbers of sun spots or none at all for decades at a time. Solar minimums are correlated with extremely harsh and unpredictable weather including both severe droughts and floods. Crop production is low, and the population usually shrinks or remains small. Counter-intuitively, the food shortage leads to better leadership and more value placed on human beings. Leaders in solar minimums are cooperative, large wars are rare, and art, literature and humanistic developments flourish. The sun has a solar cycle of about 11 years that effects the number of sun spots, the high point of the cycle having a high count of sun spots and the low part of cycle having a low count. In addition to the constant 11-year cycles, there are other random and much longer time periods known as the solar minimums and maximums. For example, in the Spoerer solar minimum, from 1460 to 1550, there were very few sun spots for 70 years. Those years saw the start of the Italian renaissance, the invention of the printing press and art flourishing in way it had not before. One of the fascinating claims in the book seeks to explain the weather differences created by solar minimums and maximums. Sun spots are related to large emissions from the sun’s surface which creates a solar wind that blows through the solar system and beyond. During solar maximums, these solar winds slow down or stop something known as relativistic protons. Relativist protons travel at near the speed of light and are said to come from outside the solar system or even our galaxy. In solar minimums with no solar winds, the relativistic protons penetrate the earth’s atmosphere and break into sub atomic particles as they hit atoms in the atmosphere. These sub atomic particles (mostly muons) cause rapid cloud formation which blocks solar absorption and reduces the earth’s surface temperature and increases flooding. This increased cloud formation and flooding reduces the humidity in the atmosphere and the lower humidity reduces the solar heat retained by the earth atmosphere. Low atmospheric humidity also causes longer more damaging droughts and lower food production.Additionally, during solar minimums, the high energy particles penetrate the earth’s crust and deposit staggering amounts of energy in the earth’s crust. This energy builds up and causes epic volcanic eruptions towards the end of long solar minimums. The ash and gases from the mega eruptions block the sun causing even more cooling of the planet surface and further reducing crop production. Many of the claims about cosmic rays and how they interact with the atmosphere in the book contradicted my understandings from high school and college. So, I checked all the citations listed in the back and was amazed to find that the author’s claims were recently verified by scientific studies. I highly recommend this book, five stars.

⭐Fascinating book and although it is written scientifically ; it was also easy to understand.

⭐Tracks solar activity using mortuary records. By using the mortuary record approach it presents an interesting view of history while tracking solar activity.

⭐My favorite topic. Studying what climate has done to civilizations is a must to know what it is doing in the present

⭐The book starts kind of slow, but be patient, it is worth it. The more you read, the more you receive a wealth of information that is not limited to the subject of Solar effects. Unique and important book that contains information that you won’t hear or read about in mainstream sources.

⭐It’s a shame because the first part of this book is very intriguing. It went through a historical compendium of the Sunspot cycles and the Sun-Earth connections, and it was enjoyable, but from chapter 18 it becomes riddled with edgy conservatist talking points. The author unfortunately puts forward his own political biases to support parts of his theory. I didn’t enjoy writing this review as I thoroughly enjoyed reading Dobler’s ”Black Death and Abrupt Earth changes in the 14th century”, which I do advise people to go and read (Download a PDF from Dobler’s website).
