⭐Used this book for an introductory college logic class. The explanations are simple and coherent, but apparently the notion used by the book is not a very common style. We made it to Chapter 10 in class, which had yet to dip into any very complex logic. After covering notation, chapters 9 and 10 finally focus on Modal logic and deducing arguments, which is the first really useful work we got into.Something a little odd is that the book has long sections on argumentative logic that, while useful and interesting, are a separate subject from the symbolic logic of the rest of the book.

⭐It does a fairly good job explaining formal logic. Not perfect, but good. I’m not sure I would suggest any other book to somebody who wants to learn it honestly.

⭐Great book. Useful accompaniment to standard introductory formal logic courses.

⭐This is, technically, an edited version of the first edition. However, it is a radical change from the original, fixing all of the first edition’s problems. It is always clear, always helpful, and always entertaining. Even if I had missed class and had an assignment to do, all I had to do was read the chapter thoroughly and it made sense. My professors told us that in case they didn’t make sense, to simply turn to the book. And it worked. When I was in doubt, this book was my lifeline. I cannot explain how much I love this book.However, if you are not a person who enjoys being challenged and enjoys having to mull a problem over in your head, you should never take a class that uses this book. This book was designed to encourage logical thinking – which it does. This book (and the course that used it) entirely changed the way I think. I see the world differently now – logically.

⭐This is the required text book of my college so I bought it along with some other logic books. Surprised to see that this one is amazingly good!!!!It is a combination of traditional symbolic logic and cutting edge topics in the area. I love the style of humor in the book, and the thought-provokingparadox as well!Best of its kind~ definitely recommend~!

⭐Excellent intro at roughly first-yer college level. Clearly and informatively written.
