I have spent countless hours tracking down sources as far back as possible in history, including to the earliest written records. I have sifted through thousands of ancient texts in numerous languages, including ancient Greek, Latin, Egyptian, Hebrew, Sanskrit and others. I have also pored through thousands of modern resources from highly credentialed authorities in a number of relevant disciplines. This chapter discusses several ancient figures considered mostly mythological whose “lives” strangely resemble that of Jesus Christ from the gospels and Christian tradition, including Egyptian, Greek, Roman and Indian gods and godmen. From the attention and reaction this single chapter has gotten, it would seem that it alone is enough to reveal Christianity as a rehash of earlier, mythical traditions, which is the premise of this book. Over the years, common complaints I have addressed include that my sources are “outdated” and are from “19th-century scholars.” In reality, I have used primary and ancient sources quite extensively, although at times I have quoted or paraphrased them through the works of more modern scholars from a few centuries ago to the current era. Regarding the dating of the canonical gospels, lawyer Joseph Wheless states: “The gospels are all priestly forgeries over a century after their pretended dates…. As said by the great critic, Salomon Reinach, ‘With the exception of Papias, who speaks of a narrative by Mark, and a collection of sayings of Jesus, no Christian writer of the first half of the second century (i.e., up to 150 A.D.) quotes the Gospels or their reputed authors.'” In “The Christ Myth,” John Remsburg elucidates: “The Four Gospels were unknown to the early Christian Fathers. Justin Martyr, the most eminent of the early Fathers, wrote about the middle of the second century. His writings in proof of the divinity of Christ demanded the use of these Gospels, had they existed in his time. He makes more than 300 quotations from the books of the Old Testament, and nearly one hundred from the Apocryphal books of the New Testament; but none from the four Gospels. Rev. Giles says: ‘The very names of the Evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, are never mentioned by him (Justin) – do not occur once in all his writings.'” And Judge Charles Waite says: “At the very threshold of the subject, we are met by the fact, that nowhere in all the writings of Justin, does he once so much as mention any of these gospels. Nor does he mention either of their supposed authors, except John. Once his name occurs; not, however, as the author of a gospel, but in such a connection as raises a very strong presumption that Justin knew of no gospel of John the Apostle.” Waite further states: “No one of the four gospels is mentioned in any other part of the New Testament…. No work of art of any kind has ever been discovered, no painting, or engraving, no sculpture, or other relic of antiquity, which may be looked upon as furnishing additional evidence of the existence of those gospels, and which was executed earlier than the latter part of the second century. Even the exploration of the Christian catacombs failed to bring to light any evidence of that character…. The four gospels were written in Greek, and there was no translation of them into other languages, earlier than the third century.” The Gospel of Luke (170 CE) The Gospel of Luke is acknowledged by early church fathers to be of a late date. As Waite states: “…Jerome admits that not only the Gospel of Basilides, composed about A.D. 125, and other gospels, admitted to have been first published in the second century, were written before that of Luke, but even the Gospel of Apelles also, which was written not earlier than A.D. 160.” The Gospel of Mark (175 CE) Like Waite, Mead also does not put Mark first: “It is very evident that Mt. and Lk. do not use our Mk., though they use most the material contained in our Mk…” The Gospel of John (178 CE) The Gospel of John is thought by most authorities to be the latest of the four, but Waite provides a compelling argument to place it third and reveals its purpose not only in refuting the Gnostics but also in establishing the primacy of the Roman Church: “So strong is the evidence of a late date to this gospel, that its apostolic origin is being abandoned by the ablest evangelical writers…. Both Irenaeus and Jerome assert that John wrote against Cerinthus. Cerinthus thus flourished about A.D. 145. [T]here is evidence that in the construction of this gospel, as in that of Matthew, the author had in view the building up of the Roman hierarchy, the foundations of which were then (about A.D. 177-89) being laid…. There is a reason to believe that both [John and Matthew] were written in the interest of the supremacy of the Church of Rome.” The Gospel of Matthew (180 CE) Although it was claimed by later Christian writers to be a “translation” of a manuscript written in Hebrew by the apostle Matthew, the Gospel of Matthew did not exist prior to the end of the second century and was originally written in Greek. As Waite says: “The Greek Gospel of Matthew was a subsequent production, and either originally appeared in the Greek language, or was a translation of the Gospel of the Hebrews, with extensive changes and additions. There is reason to believe it to have been an original compilation, based upon the Oracles of Christ, but containing, in whole, or in part, a number of other manuscripts.” Read more

⭐I read the entire Suns of God first by Acharya S, or DM Murdock. I wish this lady would not have passed away because she was studied in ancient history, languages, and religion. The Suns of God is a much better book, whereas this one after reading about one fourth of the way through, comes off as too aggressive. The points about the early church are important. There was definitely some people excommunicated right from the start at the Council of Nicaea. There were also many books lost for years, like the Gospel of Mary.There are a lot of counterpoints to be made to here arguments. Jesus was a common name and most of the Gospels are second hand information. However if Christians were persecuted in the early history, they probably would have been outlawed to right about their new leader. Aramaic was actually common language at the time, and many original works were written in Greek. Many things have been lost to history, and most important of all, human beings were majorly illiterate for most of history. Obviously there were many fakes, like there still are today in the form of televangelists, fake charities, and charlatans.Suns of God is a better book because it is more of a broad examination of religions all around the world, and many of the common themes. It provides an intellectual understanding to those links in disconnected cultures, that otherwise people like in the Ancient Aliens show try to explain. Basically people have been fascinated with nature, then stars for most of history. Religions that were focused on worshiping the stars, humanized their astrological symbols.

⭐you had better be sitting down!!! this book will steer you right through history of the lies we have been feeding on for trhe past 20 centuries!!It is packed full of facts.. your blessed new testament was not , is not sacred, but a story book, this goes right with the video “Ceasars Messiah” you watch that video, you may have to watch it 8 times to take in all the facts!!!the Jewish screptures never changed and the copies were also twisted by the writers, but mind you the original never changed!!

⭐Honestly I read the first chapter and almost sent it back. If you are turned off by the tone as I was reading this book, don’t throw it away because it actually does get a lot better. I am on page 120 which is only like 1/3 through but I have already ordered 3 more books based on just the footnotes! The ideas are well presented and like many books of this nature the arguments get a little overextended, but if you are interested in OT criticism and finding the true origins of our Christian faith, I think you will not be disappointed

⭐I feel relieved that this book has confirmed what I had sensed during my 30 years as a so-called born again Christian. All the questions that I had over many years have been answered in this book: why are conservative Christians supporting overseas wars when we are told to love all people; why does the Catholic church hide behind their cloak of God’s church when pedifile homosexual priests and nuns are raping and killing Indian children a d financed the holocaust and probably created Islam, and all and approved by the popes; why Christianity forced themselves on other cultures such as they have done throughout the Americas; why 87% of African Americans call themselves Christians not recognizing that the slave masters who raped and killed their ancestors were Christians who forced their teachings into black communities as a means to control the slaves, and the Bible says, slaves obey your masters? What a sick defilement of a loving creator. This book presents all the proof evidence that Christianity cannot ignore. The book also shares real world history that is not taught in school. I should sue the public education system for their lies in order to fill the pockets of the filthy greedy homosexual pope and the discusting church. What a book.

⭐I haven’t read the bible because it is unreadable. I can’t stand all poorly written english , of which it is all translated to from Greek and Roman texts. Everything and everyone is “beith” or some form of “-ith” that is a total mess in english. I can’t understand the language and that is probably on purpose as there are SO many other versions of the historical context that make better sense. I will give this book 3 stars for now, until I can get though its’ entirety and that might take a while. I’m sorry, but Jesus needs to come back and prove himself or he will only be believed by those under fear for not believing in him. And those people grow less and less each passing year. Sorry to say but “prison religion” comes to mind. I am just a mere man looking to believe in a higher power than mankind. Why should I? I don’t know. But it feels as though I should.

⭐Acharya is very knowledgeable. I’m not an atheist, I believe in the God of Israel, but I enjoy reading Acharya, not just on Jesus, but on Moses as well. No book should be forbidden to read. I agree with Acharya. I want to re read her book, did Moses exist? That’s a big book. As a devout Christian, for 55 years, I was frightened to read this book, and for some strange reason, Acharya is shunned by the establishment. What do they care it Jesus existed or not? Most of them are athiests. Bart Erhman is very critical of Acharya, because he is with the establishment, and makes his living by keeping within the establishment rules, Jesus did exist he says, but he’s a darwinist athiest anyway, critical of Christian creationists. He’s wrong, Jesus didn’t exist, and Acharya provides tonnes of good evidence for that fact. To get an understanding of whether Jesus existed or not, you need to read Acharya, and it’s important to get the information so that you can make an informed decision.

⭐This book superbly sums up the scientific and astronomical fact that our earth’s journey through the precessional year is the foundation for the Christian myth.The torrid age of male gods is nearing its end and with a bit of luck, the Aquarius era will start to restore the welcome balance of the divine feminine.

⭐This book is a thorough in depth study of the Christian faith and it’s history,very well researched and presented.An absolute must for anyone interested in Christian theology and biblical history to have in their library.

⭐Five stars for a convincing read. Sources everywhere and utterly encapsulating the actual ancient world and its sophistication. The truth is often stranger then the fiction. I won’t deduct point but there were a few broken up words or misprints that appear here and there but they take nothing from the in depth work put in here that extinguishes the chance of the literalists and those clutching at some historicity.Anyone who tries to argue against Acharya S’s work is truly foolish as those who have read her work know that the case she makes it pretty much ironclad.Read this book. Read all of her books. Her critics lie. Sure makes nothing up and the entire ancient world is given depth and scrutiny beyond the usual 2-D descriptions the era usually receives

Written in an accessible style with clearly referenced points, Acharya has created a book that is a worthy addition to any collection – especially to those who are currently seeking answers and truth in this reality.
