⭐This is a poor take on world history.Yes, it compiles differing viewpoints and beautiful photos. It is neither fluid nor an easy read. The writers shoehorn far too much timespan in a single chapter. I realize that it’s virtually impossible to capture adequately 500 years history in as many pages, but why spend almost a full (collective) page detailing the workmanship of Turkish/Persian craft work, while blowing by 4-5 generations of Ottoman/Safavid rulers and history in less than six pages. Isn’t one, maybe two, brief paragraphs enough?Please, if you are an instructor, or department chair for your school, please reconsider this purchase and shop for something a little more appropriate and easier to digest.

⭐This was my 1st experience using kindle. It’s been okay, I was impressed that the book was automatically delievered to my phone or any device I have kindle on. Now I am not sure if this is just a kindle or E-book thing, but there are no page numbers, no index, no way to navigate at all. Even on a computer with a large screen, no navigation at all. Just flip through tons of pages until you find what your looking for. Not very smart at all.This book makes a lot of assumptions too, it assumes you already knows things and talks about them as such. Like mentioning the Byzantine Empire with out any prior reference or even eluding to the who/what/where of them. Luckily I already knew. I was always taught that in writing, you write as if the readar has no foreknowledge about what your talking about. This book does not do that. There were other examples of that I came across but cannot specifically remember at the moment.

⭐Generally I hate textbooks, in every way shape and form, but this one was actually pretty good! It is very well organized and it easy to navigate, and it has tons of interesting pictures and maps too! It was a little boring in some places, but overall I thought both part I and II were good. If you have to dish out hundreds for a textbook, it should at least be enjoyable to read, right?

⭐This book was required for my Intro to World History class. My advice to teachers: please please please don’t choose this book. Yes, it contains a lot of good information, but also too much information for a simple survey course on history in addition to being incredibly verbose & repetitive. I recommend

⭐as a much much better alternative to this mind-numbing text.
