⭐ The story is fast paced and the characters are shallow. The plot is predictable but still interesting. An okay kind of book.

⭐ A piece of fiction could pertain to sci-fi, suspense, comedy, drama or horror: it holds you in thrall because it casts the human tribulations, anxietiesand ecstasies in its plot.Soft Centre is centered around the heroic struggle of a woman (Val) in saving her marriage. Val’s husband suffers a near-fatal accident that tearsasunder the emotional cord in their marriage. Val hopes against hopes that it would all turn around. She fights heroically. What makes her strugglepoignant is that she has to defend her marriage not only against unsavory characters but also against the well intended actions of her loving father.The plot of murder and grisly mayhem is simply a backdrop to this valiant struggle. You want Val to win, you root for her from the sidelinesbecause you know she is a lone fighter.I could not put the book down because I wanted to see Val succeed. The closing line of the book, while heartbreaking, and disappointing, atteststhe caliber of this author as a master story teller.

⭐ What a bang! Filled with so much emotions. It was almost so sentimental in spite of the horror of so many killings in the book. Another nice one from the master of arts of crime storytelling.

⭐ This is my latest James Hadley chase book and so far the best. His stories are so believable as soon as I finish one I’m after another.

⭐ Although the story was very intriguing and keeps you on the edge. The ending is quit disappointing. I hated the end.
