Description
In the course of the Hundred Years War, Henry V was the English figure most responsible for the mutual antipathy that existed between France and England. His art of attacking an opponent by making total war on civilians, as well as soldiers, created tremendous distrust and enmity between the two countries, which survives even to this day. He was a man of many contradictions, a perverse mix of rigorous orthodoxy—exemplified by his fanatical and intolerant religion—and of neurotic insecurity, stemming in part from the dubious nature of his claim to the English throne.Henry V owed his popularity at home to victories against the French that gratified an emerging English nationalism. A tremendously ardent military strategist who experimented with ballistics and built the first English navy, at the time of his early death at the age of thirty-six he controlled one-third of modern-day France. Utilizing new discoveries from local French historical societies, Desmond Seward draws a portrait of Henry V that shows him as a brilliant military strategist, ambitious conqueror, and, at least briefly, triumphant warrior king.

⭐While undergoing cancer radiation treatments, I was required to keep “the works” flowing so there would be minimal backlog, so to speak. At the oncologist’s advice, I started taking Metamucil orange drink from powder. It tastes okay – a bland but not offensive orange drink – however if you don’t drink it rapidly it starts to congeal into a gelatinous goo that is less than ideal. That said, it works. Boy howdy, it works well.Post radiation, I decided I wanted to keep on using Metamucil but was not thrilled about the prospect of never-ending gel-drinks, so I thought I’d try these wafers. I’m here to tell you that they work just as well as the drink but are much more pleasant to take indefinitely. The chocolate is pretty good but not great. It tastes very much like an oreo cookie without the white cream filling, so it’s certainly very edible. The cinnamon wafer is quite tasty, at the level that I’d consider it a perfecly reasonable snack even without the colonic effect. Indeed, it takes the guilt out of snacking because of the positive benefit – just be sure to drink plenty of liquid as you munch in order to get the optimal cleansing impact.I have not tried the Apple Crisp flavor because it is more expensive and has lower fiber content.
⭐A doctor recommended I start taking fiber for dietary reasons, and I tried using the methylcellulose drinks, which always made me vaguely nauseous because of the texture, which made the treatment worse than the problem. Another doctor mentioned this product, and I thought it couldn’t be worse than the alternative, so I tried it, first with the chocolate, and now I’ve tried all three. My thoughts on them each:Chocolate flavor: It’s an adequate filling snack. Not so tasty you want to eat a bunch, not so horrible that you will avoid taking them. I keep a box at work, and when I’m feeling vaguely peckish, I grab a packet. My first experience with this product, and the one I continue to use.Cinnamon Spice flavor: Not bad, but certainly not good. The cinnamon is just enough to be present, making it taste like a piece of cardboard with a cinnamon-sugar coating. Certainly not something I’d want to eat if there were any other options, and not as good as the chocolate ones.Apple Spice flavor: If you like that artificial apple flavor that is added to some foods, you *might* enjoy these. They taste a lot like an apple candle smells, only with cardboard hints instead of wax. I will not buy this again, and gaze at the box I still haven’t finished with vague loathing. If I had only tried the apple flavor, I’d give these a 2 star rating: edible, but fairly unpleasant but not sugar-free gummy bear unpleasant. The cinnamon spice flavor is average-to-adequate, and the chocolate flavor is palatable, so an overall 4. If you’re not getting enough fiber otherwise, try them out to see if they work better for you.
⭐I’ve been buying this Metamucil product for quite a while. There are only 4 grams of sugar per packet, and I will say that these cookies do help a bit. Of course it’s difficult to tell the effectiveness of any supplement. Every person is different. For me, I believe the cookies are helping. There are only 5 grams of fiber in the package of two cookies. They are also a bit filling so you can’t eat too many.I certainly would not eat 4 packages a day to get 20 grams of fiber. But one package of cookies to get 5 grams seems reasonable. Don’t expect a miracle after eating one package of cookies. You’re going to need fiber from other sources as well. The cookies are dense, however the flavor is excellent. They taste like a good cookie! I recommend this product. Also the price for this multi pack was very fair and reasonable. Thanks to the seller!
⭐If you like chocolate and need to up your fiber intake, these are perfect. Also, Amazon’s price is one of the best I’ve found.
⭐Tastes great. Howard stern mentions the apple flavor all the time so it always seems back ordered but this one is good. I enjoy it every morning.
⭐Love these, they taste amazing and has fiber too. Did not like the cinnamon ones only the chocolate and you get twelve 2 packs in each box.
⭐Thank heavens for this product!!!I pkg in the AM with coffee daily keeps me happy. Does stick to teeth. Chocolate is best. Cinamon has an occasional whole oat in each cracker, so not a fan.
⭐The cookies don’t have a strong chocolate taste, but that ok for me. It’s a brand name. I’m not sure if they work or not. I do like that the cookies are individually packaged for 2 cookies each.
