⭐Bremmer is sharp, insightful and full of information, but much of his material here has an expiration date…..so it goes with international relations. Things can change quickly!

⭐This book is a solid overview, especially for someone new to the topic. Didn’t go quite as deep as I would have liked, but a good volume overall.

⭐The book summarize the short term geopolitical stuff ahead, the best part of it it’s the analysis of the european funds , the rest of the book it’s ok but if you follow the news it won’t add much data.

⭐Ok collection of essays that may now be dated in certain parts. Some essays can a bit dry in parts.

⭐A good read on some inye resting topics.

⭐I’ve always been a fan of Ian Bremmer, so I stumbled across this new work of his while looking through his twitter feed. At less than $0.50 a chapter, I thought it worth buying just to read the one on Russia (which is my area of expertise). I thought What’s Next was worth the buy for that chapter alone–but ended up leafing through the entire book and finding it very compelling and clear. Considering how complex some of these issues are, I thought the authors on the whole did a great job of articulating what the risks are– and WHY these topics are the `Geopolitics that Matter.’Just for your reference, the chapters are as follows– two on Europe, one on Russia, one on the Middle East, one on Asia Pacific, one on US foreign policy, and one on Afghanistan. The last chapter is a broader, more global piece on regionalism. If any one of these topics interest you, I’d say go for it.

⭐What’s Next’ is a fascinating compilation of the various international challenges that we currently face. While each chapter is a standalone essay with a different author on a disparate topic, together they form a neat constellation of the under-appreciated risks we should watch out for around the world. From Afghanistan or Russia to more macro concepts like emerging markets risk or the evolution of US economic statecraft, ‘What’s Next’ had a textbook quality, with an engaging ‘short story’ format as it jumps from one topic to another. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in policy or prediction on foreign affairs.
