Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Arriving a few years late! I am a Vista addict and my friends know me as Vista Bill! Recently I ordered a refurbished desktop that runs Windows 7. I immediately feared a dislike for this operating system. But… I was wrong! I like W7! It is, as some say, an operating system similar to Vista and could be referred to as “Vista SE” (Second Edition). The transition has been very smooth and my 81 year old brain adjusted quickly. But there are features that I knew little or nothing about in W7. I knew I needed a “Windows 7 for Dunnies” book! The Dummies books have led me through all of my computer endeavors over the years. I did not waste my money! I randomly flipped to a page and I discovered a very helpful feature that W7 has and Vista didn’t. Paid for itself quickly! If you are using any version of Windows, be sure to purchase a “Dummies” book to find out everything that the operating system has to offer.

⭐I bought the book thinking that it would tell me how to enter the XP mode for windows 7. Unable to find it anywhere.Book probably ok for dummies but if you have been there for a while you have already figured stuff out and except for the xp mode it does whatever you want.I use my 300 icon desktop as a directory for quick reference to all the places I go or want to return to. Category first letter space and place of interest plus phone number. No mention of stuff like thatOr using my Initial plus a space and the name I choose for my pictures and drawings I want to quickly locate in DOCUMENTS.I use an initial for things others sent me to be remembered. Takes seconds to locate and include stuff in OUTGOING email.BUT NOTHING ON XP MODE. ( It is in the operating system and you can find it but good luck making it work) Some folks claim to know how and suggest different paths but they don’t do it for me.

⭐I just bought a new computer because XP has become dated, although I didn’t see any real reason to buy the new computer. Since the Windows are different and I haven’t had a book to go by since Windows 95 for Dummies. I have always found these books to be helpful and there are many things to be found and many are quite helpful. I am glad that I got the book and it has been helpful although I don’t have too much trouble finding my way through and around the new Windows. I could recommend the book, especially for beginners.I like these books because they are useful to the ordinary person. I have used many different Windows starting with Windows 95. I haven’t heard anything good about Windows 8 so I shopped around until I found what I wanted in Windows 7. There seems to be a few more bells and whistles than what XP Windows had but I have always felt that XP was a good product and I didn’t really want to change. I probably wouldn’t have had to buy the book but it is handy to have if there is something that you need to find or know.

⭐I am a computer user, not a computer guru. I am sorry that XP is over, because I am very comfortable using it. Windows 7 is much different. But, with this book to help me, Windows 7 is much easier.Just one hint: Don’t think you need to read the book cover-to cover to use Windows 7. Just read what you want to learn or what you need to answer your questions. When I became comfortable with Windows 7, I went back to the book to learn more about the system. I found that I better understood what I was reading, so I read more and more. Yes, it “hooked” me, and I enjoy reading it now–even the subjects that I don’t have questions about. It’s sorta like reading your new car’s Owner’s Manual. Confusing at first, but after driving that shining beauty for about a month, read the manual again and it makes more sense. Read it again after 2 months and you will enjoy all those gadgets that you didn’t know you had in your shining beauty.

⭐I am a big fan of the For Dummies books and had another copy of this book, but lost it. I strongly recommend it as an easygoing read, yet an informative manual on the ins and outs of a PC with the Windows 7 setup. It doesn’t cover every little thing possible, but, hey, there are plenty of questions I wouldn’t even think to ask, let alone understand an answer to! This book covers basics and middle ground and some more advanced stuff in a very understandable way. Whenever I have a new subject to learn, a “Dummies” book is one of the first I will go for, because it covers just that, and it adds a little humor to lighten the load (I am NOT a computer person, and any smiles help!). If you need a Windows 7 manual, this is the first book to look for!

⭐The For Dummies series as a whole is great for beginners but lacks in depth knowledge, so you are paying for partial information that you can actually understand (which is a bonus for many) but in any case you are missing information that other books would provide you if you could understand it. I bought this book for my cousin and she learned from it easily, but I feel you should get a higher grade of book and spend more time attempting to understand it. As a note to this review, most anything that can be found in the book, is available online for free if you can google your way around.

⭐I describe myself as “computet challenged”, but after the purchase of a new computer equiped with Windows 7, I was determined not to be. This book has shown me basic things , that like the book says, are things they think you already know (but don’t), and helped me be more familiar and comfortable with my computer than I thought I could be. It’s easy to follow, very descriptive and makes you feel like someone knows you feel stupid asking these questions but still need the answers anyway. The part I didn’t expect is the humor, which makes you feel more at ease with the learning process. Thank you Andy !

⭐Bought for a novice and he said it was helpful.

⭐Bought this when I bought my new computer, as I had been with vista before. Used it at first then as the windows 7 operating system is so user friendly and thinks ahead for you, have not really needed to use it much. BUT. It is handy to have there. Due to my age I like to have something hardcopy to look at if there is a problem, rather than online stuff. A good “bible” to have, if and when you may need it.

⭐Having just about got to know my way around Windows XP which was not that different to 98, it was quite a culture shock to have a new computer with Windows 7. 7 is very different from XP, such as Email Windows Live. No longer is there ‘Send/Receive’ there is a mysterious ‘Sync’. All these things and much more are explained in a way ‘non computer nerds’, like me, can understand. I recommend this book to all.

⭐Hi, I have for the last 10 years been using Microsoft Windows XP but unfortunately my aged PC broke down and I did not have any option other than installing MS Windows 7 Professional on a new PC. I did not wish to install Windows 8 as it has not been around long enough to get many reviews on it. As Windows 7 is completely new to me and I wished to get the most out of it, I thought the only way to do this was to get a highly acclaimed easy to understand book. I have looked at although not owned, the “Dummies Books” and realised that was the book that I needed. It has passed my expectations and I am very pleased with it, explaining in easy terms everything that I wanted to know. I give it 100 out of 100 marks.

⭐I much prefer Windows 7 as I find it to be more stable than Windows 8.I’ll never understand computers but this books explains things in an easy to follow format and I would recommend it.Good service, nice price and I would use the seller again.
