⭐ I appreciate what the Dummies series offers and as someone previously posted they are always good for an introduction and refresher.

⭐ Like probably all “Dummies” books, it’s an easy read.I’m skilled with personal computers, but almost zero when it comes to servers. This book was a great introduction to servers for me.

⭐ Amazing Book! Simple and direct! Have everything you need to start and to understand the concepts about Windows Server and Active Directory!

⭐ as with all the “dummies” books, it covers the basics pretty well and gave me a decent understanding of what i had to do.

⭐ This is a well written book, but if you are looking to find out more about Server 2008 do not bother. There is more than half of the book dedicated to telling how to set up various networks, explaining those networks, TCP/IP, FAT32 formatting, and telling you the various components of a motherboard and what they do. It will even give you links on where to find out how to do all the things that you want to know about Server 2008 (no joke it is on page 99). This book lacks in explaining the functioning parts of Server 2008 as applied on the network you just set up, except maybe how it is not like 2003, misses out on things that you may find useful and tools that most businesses would use, (not too many people would spend money on a server for personal use). This book is not for people that know computers or anything about a network as most of the book is dedicated to that, all of the knowledge that is imparted about server 2008 could have been put on 20-30 pages, and if you have never done anything on a computer, installed an OS, replaced a motherboard, installed memory, installed any programs, or just created a shared folder, you may find it very useful.

⭐ pleased with ordering, shipping and product!

⭐ The book is great and just what I needed. The shipping took way to long I feel to get it here.

⭐ Thanks

⭐ I bought this book in preparation for trying to set up a server for a small company. I vaguely remembered the “for dummies” series being approachable so that was what I bought. The book is packed with jargon, admittedly it explains what it means, but that doesn’t really help you understand what it actually does on a practical level! The book contains the really easy stuff like, “When you install make sure you have your windows server 2008 DVD at hand..” but neglects to mention the mind boggling multitude of versions of windows server, if there is a 32 bit version, or even what a CAL is! The index is similarly rather limited.Perhaps this book might come in useful when the system is up and running, but then it will be no easy job cutting through all the jargon to figure out what its actually trying to tell me! So I’m on the look out for another book on this matter!

⭐ Probably half of this book is about general computing. As soon as you get past the very basics the book recommends you look at another book.I have Calculus for dummies, and Genetics for dummies, both complex topics that are well explained, and don’t keep referring you to other texts when the going gets tough!. Ed Tittel should read them and then he will understand what is required of a dummies book is to explain complex topics in plain language, not just do the easy stuff and avoid the hard parts. Very disappointing.Total waste of time if you know the basics of computing
