Reviews from Amazon users, collected at the time the book is getting published on UniedVRG. It can be related to shiping or paper quality instead of the book content:

⭐ When I write training programs, they require many sections, columns, lines and headers, but I need them in different places rather than throughout. Trying to keep them out of one section and in another, turns out to be a real brainteaser. While I know how to type, I know next to nothing about computers, whether it is a search engine or mother board I am a moron, and the only computer I had for years had beads on it.So, after failing to find “Microsoft Office Word 2007 for Complete and Utter Morons,” I settled for “Microsoft Word 2007 for Dummies.” This book offers a thorough explanation of anything you need to know about “2007.” Illustrations frequently complement the instruction. The author adds some humor that is characteristic of the dummy series but it is subtle and doesn’t dominate the instruction, most of the time. There is a detailed index for readers who wish to learn a specific function immediately. Little icons on the side of the page offer suggestions to warn you of technical information or a prompt to remember something, or other tips.I expect to master Word 2007 just about the time that it will be replaced, or I retire. I hope it will be the latter.I miss my beads.

⭐ The book gave a good introduction to Word 2007, just wasn’t as up to date as the version of that program that I have. It got me started off good, though.

⭐ It doesn’t answer the nasty pagination problem I encountered. Word would stop numbering pages after a couple in a file, go back to the previous page and renumber it incorrectly, then not number the ones after it consecutively just keep placing the same number on each page, etc. There appears to be no way to number pages except in headers or footers either, as far as WORD FOR DUMMIES indicates, as best I can tell. There were one or two other places WORD FOR DUMMIES turned out to be clueless, too; but it’s better than nada. Word is vastly inferior word processing software. WordPerfect is much better. Writers I know despise Word, and curse having to use it because publishing adopted it as the standard for submissions. It is a shame it was adopted so widely, apparently by executives in companies who were sold a bill of goods about it by Microsoft, when they would never have to actually use it. Pretty typical executive behavior–making decisions about various office systems their underlings will have to use without actual facts.

⭐ Being older, I don’t have the training or skills mmost people do with computers and this book hs been a Godsend to me. I have stumbled around for several years, trying to figure out the intricacies of Word and in just a few days, with this book, my skills with this program are improving greatly. I wish I’d bought it a lot sooner.

⭐ This book is a good resource for those of us new to word processing programs. It explains the basics in detail. It is organized in such a way that it is easy to find the topics you are looking for. I would like a few more pictures and diagrams.I usually like books written by this author – Dan Gookin.

⭐ I am a big believer in the Dummies Books! I needed something to get me over the “hump” after having used Word 2003 for so long. I had no idea there were so many convenient do-dads and helpers. Call me old-fashioned, but I confess it took me a few years to catch up with the rest of the world. I wanted to do it with a little knowledge under my belt. This was a great way to learn all my options in this new (to me) formatting way of doing things. I actually “enjoyed” learning it all.

⭐ I purchased a few of the “Dummy” books to help me navigate through Microsoft programs. As part of the older generation, I have not learned all the shortcuts and tricks that make the software useful. About half of the time, I am able to find the process for the task I am trying to accomplish or fix a problem using the book. However, the index is not cross referenced enough to be able to locate solutions. I think you are better off paying the extra money and buying the reference book.

⭐ shipped quick..book was in good condition..

⭐ I would have rated the book higher if the author did not consider himself a comedian. Yes, his comments throughout the book are funny, but they are also distracting to a person who is trying to read his instructions. His instructions and hints are simple and helpfulI do find the book helpful, maybe because I am one of the dummies he wrote it for.

⭐ Dummies have been my reference manuals in the many past years. Never start Windows without Dummies being around.
