⭐This is a gem of a book. Here, Alfven explains to the non-scientist his assumptions in step by logical step as he goes along. How he does all of this is amazing given that this is a very short book.Alfven provides a straight forward explanation of both matter and anti-matter masterfully using diagrams without equations to show the properties of both forms of matter and the physical principles by which they interact. Significantly, Dr. Alfven proposes a mechanism that is consistent with experimental evidence regarding quasars that could be interpreted as one mechanism through which the universe recreates itself.Alfven’s conclusions are based upon empirical evidence. Still, they are somewhat controversial today. For that reason, this book might be considered to be a must read for those who are willing to consider alternatives to the origin of the universe if it has one. In support of the conclusions Dr. Alfven reaches see Halton Arp’s book Seeing Red: Redshifts, Cosmology and Academic Science and The Electric Sky: A Challenge To the Myths Of Modern Astronomy by Donald E Scott.
⭐Ok so we have protons and antiprotons. They annihilate each other. But antiprotons otherwise behave like protons. So when visiting another galaxy or whatever, make sure you are in a compatible universe, i.e. it has protons and not antiprotons, because if you land on a planet in an incompatible universe, your particles and its particles are going to annihilate each other and that is the end of your story.
⭐Its interesting to see what some prominent scientists were thinking about the Big Bang at just about the same time Penzias and Wilson had released their results.Although the Alfven/Klein theories have been discredited, it still intersting to see the reasoning. In that sense, its a great book for those interested in the history of astrophysics and cosmology.
⭐It is theoretical physics. But I like it since it presents a reasonable alternative to the standard model of cosmology.
⭐Somewhat technical. It was interesting bit not exactly what I expected.
⭐Excellent book. Makes more sense than the mythical dark matter and dark energy hypothesis.
