⭐I’m inclined to believe that the positive reviews are from the company because out of my class of ~80 students, just about every single one responded yes to changing to a different book next year (this is was the first year the prof used the book so he asked us what our opinions on it are). The book is very theoretical and hard to follow. If this were the only issue, I would have given it probably 3 or 4 stars, but it isn’t the only issue. There are numerous typos in the book itself, and the examples are frequently cherry-picked or just plain wrong (i.e. make it look easy b/c certain things cancel or reduce nicely but then the homework has concepts that are only mentioned briefly in the text/not even mentioned). Even answers in the back of the book are wrong about once per problem set (we have 6-10 questions per pset, and since ~1/2 of them have answer in the back, the answer key is only receiving a 66.6 to 83.3% on it’s own problems… that is just bad its ridiculously stupid). I know the TAs are having similar discrepancies with the full solution manual. I can understand an error or two here and there, but the frequency at which these errors are occurring is stupidly ridiculous and, frankly, disgusting that they are charging as much as they are for such a flawed book.

⭐The item shipped quickly and arrived in perfect condition. This was perfect since I needed it for a class. The book itself has a nice layout for learning the topics. There are plenty of diagrams to visually interpret the topics. At the end of every chapter there are many practice problems to work through with about half of the answers in the back.

⭐Of course the book was a bit pricey since it was a new edition of the book, but at least it was cheaper than my school’s bookstore.

⭐It was great, no writing and it still had a very strong binding on it. Overall it was a great deal.

⭐Quick, easy, affordable.

⭐I used this textbook for one semester of fluid mechanics in my undergraduate civil engineering curriculum. It is a big bonus to have the appendix with the MathCAD, Excel and MATLAB exercises in case you are learning how to use software to solve engineering problems more efficiently. Chapters 10 to 15 are good extensions of knowledge that you obtain the first nine chapters of this book.It wouldn’t hurt to have a companion such as Schaum’s Outlines of Fluids and Hydraulics handy; they do have a 4th edition to the best of my knowledge.If I didn’t understand what was explained in this book or needed to see a similar solved problem, I made the habit of checking out other fluid mechanics books from my university library; I would recommend it.

⭐I have to agree with the reviewer above me. This book is awful. The sample problems skip steps, don’t show formulas and don’t have enough explanation. If you’re going to use this textbook for a course, I suggest you buy a supplement because this textbook will leave you confused.

⭐This book is one of the worst textbooks I’ve had. The example problems do not contain units, and skip vital steps to arriving at the solutions. In lieu of this, the authors have used such statements as, “of course” and “so”– a true sign of a bad textbook. This one gets sold back at the end of the semester.

⭐Typical engineering text book, I only use it for the problems in it.
