Description

Months after their brutal victory over Aiden and his hierarchy of Wizards, Charlotte and Valek have returned from Prague to their home in the Bohemian Occult City. However, this time, they are joined by their new band of misfit, magical friends. In the light of day, all seems to be at peace now that the Regime has been toppled, and the coven of rogue monsters has finally found their freedom. But Charlotte soon discovers that much like her adopted Vampire family, she has developed a strange addiction of her own. Her new disease is destroying her from the inside out, and Valek finds himself at a loss as he defies all odds to save her life.

Danger continues to lurk around every corner and they realize that their happily-ever-after has not ended so happily after all, in this highly anticipated sequel of the Of Light and Darkness series.

⭐ I was not sure when I started reading if I would love it as much as Shayne’s first book but needless to say I loved it Perhaps a little more!!! I skipped cleaning, sleeping and almost eating. My only complaint, it ended too soon. Some of the wonderful characters reappeared and some of the nasties also. I am not sure how I like the changes in Charlotte and Valek’s relationship, I will just have to wait and see. Hurry up Book 3. I am very interested in the newly introduced young man who favors Valek. Some of the other reviewers gave much more information so I do not feel a need to add more. If you have not read her first book Of Light and Darkness, please do buy both of them. You will not be sorry.

⭐ The story line was very well written and I believe this author has a vast array of talent to her. I liked being able to follow all of the story lines, yet they were a bit hard for me to keep straight at first. Still with the flow of the book they were easy to follow very quickly. I like how the plot picked up were the other left off and not much time had changed. There were so many fascinating and interesting plot turners or sifts with this book, I am excited about the development of this story as well as the development of the people in this story. I am excited to see new characters and how they played such a great role in the story. I can’t wait to see how the story grows from here this is good work

⭐ The story “Of Light and Darkness” continues in Shayne Leighton’s world of vampires, humans, fairies, phasers, elves and much more to the long awaited sequel: “The Vampire’s Reflection”.With myself being a fan of Shayne’s work, in writing of this wonderful and her performance in the movie “The Incubus”, I was awaiting with suspense for the second novel of the series. I am a huge fan of fantasy and original writings that this series intrigued me in many ways. Being a literature major I always look for new authors with stories that catch my interest. The first book of the series called “The Vampire’s Daughter” was fantastic and gripping that I could not put the book down. It was that good. With that being said, I ordered the novel a day early and I got it a couple of days later. Finishing the book in two days flat, I must say this sequel is amazing and keeps you wanting more. Like the first, you will have a hard time turning away for the briefest moment. These are some highlights that I thought were important that should be kept in the back of the reader’s mind when it comes to the next story. In this second installment, Valek is trying to help Charlotte out with a fatal addiction that could lead to her death. The relationship between Valek and Lottie still amazes me and leaves me questioning the future of their complicated life together. The tugging and pulling of both their actions will lead to either happiness or horrible results. Leighton does this with passion and has the reader begging for more. The elf Aiden is still torn apart from the events at the end of the first novel and is now seeking revenge on Valek to try to get Charlotte back. Even though he is not present in the entire novel, the reader does wonder whether what his plan really is. Aiden is a complex character and you have no idea which side he should be on: good or evil. Sarah, the witch, has a larger role in this novel and has to help Valek out in his worst times when it comes to Charlotte’s future. She is definitely one of my personal favorites, because of her actions and herself as a character: strong, silly and not afraid to stand up for who or what she is. The rest of the coven members, like Lusian, are up to their old games and still are great developed characters. The setting of this world changes and it is not in the same place. There is traveling done by a few protagonists and it is a nice change. The return of Francis was most exciting to read about and it seems he will play a larger role perhaps in the later novels. A new character is introduced by the name of Nikolai. Who is his and his role in this series is still to be determined. He is a newly character with “prophetic” abilities and sounds like a time bomb when friended by the wrong people. I am excited to see who is going to be in the later novels. Mystery lies with many in this tale and will continue to do so in third book.Overall, Shayne Leighton’s second book in the “Of Light and Darkness” series does not disappoint at all. In fact, I was wanting more and that is what she wants you to feel. So,i f you are a fan of fantasy in the world of vampires and other mystical creatures, pick up this series to read. I support the series, Shayne’s work and the future of the Occult City 100%. I am looking forward to the third installment which I hope will be very soon. New readers: read this series – you will not regret it! 🙂

⭐ This book was really good. As I was reading this book, I could feel everything that Lottie was feeling, the anger, the pain, the disappointment and the sadness. When she was tied up by Lusian and she thought all hope was lost, but Jorge came to help her get out. And when the sad parts started, like when Lottie was dying, I cried my eyes out. I could feel a connection with every character and I really loved this book. Can’t wait for the next one. Good work on this one Shayne.

⭐ I was very excited about receiving this book after reading ‘The Vampire’s Daughter’ hoping that the second installment would continue to keep me on the edge of my seat, wanting more. Shayne Leighton did not disappoint me one bit.I found myself loving certain characters even more in this book,(Sarah, Charlotte, Mr. Trinozka, Edwin), more terrified of others, (Lusian, Aiden) and fighting to still believe that there is good in even the most uncertain character of all (Valek) who despite his good intentions definitely was put to the test in this book. The author took time to show that even the most fantastic characters (human/non-human) can make such life changing mistakes and it’s sometimes questionable as to whether or not they can ever overcome them. That is something I hope to find out about in book 3.I found myself rather completely transfixed on the newest addition, Nikolai. I didn’t expect his role to have such an important connection in the story and I feel like there is still so much mystery and alot of unanswered questions regarding his involvement, but I think he’ll be sticking around for a while so hopefully there will be more to learn about this intriguing character. All in all, the dangers, the adventures that were explored in ‘The Vampire’s Reflection’ were exciting and terrifying all the same. It’s definitely a book series that I brag about quite often and I hope that anyone reading this will take the time to order themselves a copy because you will NOT be disappointed once you begin reading it. This actually deserves 10 stars but since I can only give up to 5, that’s what I will do.

⭐ A well designed and written sequel to the first book in the series. The story, characters and locations are quite imaginative and fun. It has blood, but hey, it’s vampire blood. It has fun situations and all are meant to entertain. Basically is has it all and done nicely.

⭐ Book two carries on where the first book left off. I wish I had gone back and reread the first before starting book 2. I had A hard time with some specifics (I have read a lot of books since book 1), but was able to remember the things eventually from book 1. Over all very good!

⭐ Very very good

⭐ I started this book not too long ago and got hooked to the point to where I wanted to stay home from work until I finished it! Well of course I didn’t but every chance I got I would read and I finally finished it but deep down I wished I had taken more time because now I have to wait til the next book comes out to see what happens!

⭐ Loved book number one, loving book number two, can’t wait for book number three. A great tale of vampires how we learned they existed, but with great twists of imagination, and how love triumphs no matter who you love.
