Description

“Strongly recommended” by the American Journal of Physics, this volume serves as a text for advanced undergraduates and graduate students of physics as well as a reference for professionals. Clear in its presentation and scrupulous in its attention to detail, the treatment originally appeared in a two-volume French edition. This convenient single-volume translation begins with formalism and its interpretation, starting with the origins of quantum theory and examinations of matter waves and the Schrödinger equation, one-dimensional quantized systems, the uncertainty relations, and the mathematical framework and physical content of formalism. The second half opens with an exploration of symmetries and invariance, including a consideration of angular momentum, identical particles and the Pauli exclusion principle, invariance and conservation laws, and time reversal. Methods of approximation include those involving stationary perturbations, the equation of motion, variational method, and collision theory. The final chapters review the elements of relativistic quantum mechanics, and each of the two volumes concludes with useful appendixes.

⭐If want to become a quantum mechanic then this is your book to find excellent as a mathematics

⭐I have been the proud owner and reader of “Quantum Mechanics Volume I” by Albert Messiah since the 1980s. It is on the same set of shelves as “Quantum Mechanics Fourth Edition” by P.A.M. Dirac, “Quantum Mechanics Third Edition” by L.I. Schiff, “Quantum Mechanics Second Edition” by E. Merzbacher, and “Quantum Mechanics” by A. Bohm. Now I am the enchanted owner and reader of both volumes by Albert Messiah. It is the most encyclopedic covering of quantum mechanics that I have had the opportunity to read and enjoy. The problems in both volumes are very good and thought provoking. I wholeheartedly recommend these two volumes to anyone who is interested in the history and development of quantum mechanics.

⭐I bought this book because there is some content in this book that not in Cohen’s book, I really like Cohen’s. This book is not very readable, as there are lots saying in it like ” it’s easily to prove…..”, “It’s very evident that….”, I should say not all students are like a professor, to this sense, this book sucks! Many of my classmates hate this book. If you do have enough math or strong background in quantum, it probably will take you more than 3 days to figure out some of its expressions, which even undefined clearly!By the way, when I got this book, its cover was damaged, not too bad, but make me really unhappy, I would like to return it for replacement, but I have no time to process! Paper cover sometime messes up!

⭐Well-organized and comprehensive graduate text and lifelong reference. Saved me when I needed to learn new tricks after 8 years of teaching physical chemistry.

⭐One of the bibles on Quantum Mechanics.

⭐Received as advertised. Excellent subject coverage. Some specific ideas defined somewhat weakly.

⭐Good

⭐One of the best and well written books in quantum mechanics. It’s classics in deed!

⭐Slowly but surely I am catching up on my studies into physics. It is a lifelong task! This was published mid 20th century, but the concepts are still valid. The basics do not change and that is what I bought the book for. I noted that it has been translated from French, but the translation is excellent!

⭐All excellent!

⭐Good value for money
