Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐This book has proven to be profoundly helpful to me in raising and caring for my Nubian goats. I live on a small farm and knew nothing about goats. This book has walked me through every aspect of goat ownership from hoof trimming to vaccinations. Without the advice of Goats for Dummies, I would have been completely lost when my goat suddenly became deathly ill – with no vet in site. Fortunately, I had my book nearby, read the 2 most likely reasons for his illness and was able to keep him alive until I could get a vet to our farm the next day. My goat recovered fully. Money well spent!!!

⭐Lots of info covered in this book. We grabbed it because we were thinking about bringing a couple goats to our acreages and want to be prepared beforehand. Nothing beats experience but this comes close.

⭐I’ve been raising goats for 7 years now and have collected quite a few books on the subject. This is still the one I turn to most. The information on diseases, parasites and nutrition is particularly useful to me. It’s easy for me to quickly find what I need. I’m sure you can find more detailed information about each subject in other books or on the web. But this book gives me the basic information that I need on the most common situations that arise. I often recommend it to first time goat owners who buy goats from me.

⭐Ordered this as a gift. It arrived when the recipient was present. She was thrilled to receive this book. She has just received 2 goats, and loved the gift.It arrived quickly and safely.Easy transaction. Thanks!

⭐This book is truly comprehensive! I got it a couple of weeks before I got 2 goats, and it has been a lifesaver! The author writes in a style that is very readable and enjoyable. I liked all of her “been there, done that” stories in the book. Her examples were very helpful and interesting. This book really tells you everything you need to know to get started with goats! One thing I will mention – she does look at goats from a “pet” standpoint instead of a “livestock” standpoint. She spends a lot of time talking about how cute they are, etc. This works for me, because our goats are definitely pets, not food. But it might be a little annoying for someone who is trying to raise a herd of meat goats, for example.I’m really glad I got this book – I think my goats and I will be a lot happier now that I have all of this knowledge!

⭐A good reference and introductory book on raising goats. Has many useful facts, stories and information on beginning and maintaining a goat herd. Also, this book is organized to quickly reference specific tidbits of information in the future. Definitely read more books and go to goat association meetings to gain the information this book lacks due to the broad array of subjects it covers.

⭐Great book & must have for new goat owners! This book has helped so much with caring for my goats. I’ve had goats for about 2 years now & I still refer to this book first whenever I hve a goat question.

⭐Book in all was great as most of the “for dummies” books however the quality has dropped over the years. The book was very flimsy and had super thin pages which made them hard to turn.

⭐This is a great book for those readers in the USA but for Brits this is going to leave many questions unanswered. I wouldn’t have imagined how many differences there would be between goat keeping in the UK and US but there really are: rules and regulations (we Brits cannot just casually take out goats out for walks or on trips in the car), names of food stuffs, lists of poisonous plants, breeds, even the way milk is measured is different, I suspect the names of medications will also differ but I’ve not got that far in my goat journey yet. Most of the husbandry and of course biology is the same but I’ll keep on searching for a handbook for the UK market.

⭐As a novice which is getting the first pet goats soon I had read one other handbook first before reading this one. This book is very well structured as you can skip sections you do not need (like kidding etc.) But it gives a very good introduction what to do. – And what not to do. It has only illustrations not pictures but as a handbook giving constructive advice you probably have other books for that. (I.e. what breed of goat you want) It is written by an american lady and very easy to read although it does not go VERY deep into details. The american touch will make a few europeans laugh because we do not have any coyotes which could eat our tethered animals or many big airborne preditors (yet) which could threaten them. I would recommend this book as it clearly tells you how to go about things as a beginner wanting to know the basics.

⭐I love these books. They present as for idiots but then display and share information in a way which almost makes you an expert once you have digested the content of the book. Plenty of goat pictures which suits my strange obsession with goats particularly kids!

⭐I am very pleased with this book – it is very easy to read, the relaxed, ‘tell it like it is’ style works well for me.It is very informative and tells you what you need to know. The author has packed a lot of information into this book.I have one other goat book and have read loads on the net – this book compares very favourably and I would recommend it without hesitation. If you are looking for very detailed, very technical stuff then maybe this isn’t the book for you but if you are considering goat-keeping or are new to goat-keeping this book is excellent. I have 4 dwarf goats and very much a novice – learning each day & loving it.

⭐Very informative and great resource. Ready to start keeping them now.
