    User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Seems like a pretty good book for beginning chicken keepers. A little curious that the authors advise using medicated feed. I’ve watched 100’s of youtubes at this point and everyone specifically says, “if your chick(en)s aren’t sick, why would you give them medicine”, which makes a lot more sense to me.Anyway, I’m sure I picked up enough tips, tricks, and info to make this worth the purchase. I would recommend it to anyone thinking about getting a flock, but would also recommend search youtube and check out at least a couple other books (like “Fresh Eggs Now”).

⭐Great book for novices. My husband bought a different one initially and it was worthless. This is our first time raising chickens and this book was highly recommended by a seasoned chicken farmer. It is concise and has lots of information. Easy to follow.

⭐I wish I had this BEFORE building a chicken coop. The store sold me a coop/cage that is WAY too small for 6 chickens. And i didn’t realize chickens are escape artists! The book goes through legal issues/city or town restrictions, about start up costs, estimated time it will need, and space. Chicken anatomy, behavior, how they get along with other animals. Breed information for layers, pets/show, etc. Buying chickens, housing, design of coop, feeding, water info, cleaning, pest and predator control. Simple important information like how to catch your chickens! It goes into breeding and incubating, managing layers and butchering meat birds. It briefly reviews common health issues.so much more

⭐Ive read it about 5 times already. I have read everything online which can be very controversial . I needed a place where I could read about everything and have it pretty much the right way to do things. Its really easy to understand and I have highlighted a bunch of my book already. I highly recommend this book to new chicken keepers, especially the chapter on hatching chicks.

⭐We are new to Chickens, and I am one to like to read about a topic to learn what I need to know. This book has been an excellent resource! Wondering when chicks can start to venture outdoors? What are the true tolerance temperatures for young vs older chickens? What are the anatomical structures of birds that will help you tell boys from girls? How do you manage layers versus broilers? How do you butcher and clean a chicken? What are the proper elements for a brooder and a coop? They go into tons of detail on all topics, also pointing out some of the things to avoid. I had tried several of the other books out there (ones free with Prime or Unlimited), as well as using online forums, but I would have a hard time finding specific comprehensive answers to my questions. This book seems to have it all!

⭐Wow! Great info!!! Big book..lots of information. This is the first time that we have raised chickens so we have a lot of questions and this book has a lot of answers!!! I researched before buying the correct chicken book and I was impressed mostly with this and I’m glad that I decided to get this one. I know we will use this as a go-to for any questions that arise, and just to read through to educate ourselves on our new journey with raising sweet chickens!!! 🙂

⭐I am new to raising chickens and this book is a big help. It is easy to find the answer to a quick question or concern and a fun read. I gave it four stars because I would like to see a few more illustrations and an expanded description of the different breeds. My chicks are alive and well, so far, thanks to the great advice in this book.

⭐My wife is totally new to raising chickens, and I have some experience from my youth, but not a lot. This covers everything you need to know without getting too technical like some of the other books do.

⭐Not for me and basically all the author does is chat about local laws, got it cos I thought it would show me how to build a coop, I think I’ll just Google it.

⭐This is the most helpful book to read if you want to raise chickens. From chick to laying hen, all my questions were answered in no time. The authors have set up the book with well marked chapters and an easy reference system. They even walk you through the construction of the coop. A valuable chapter is devoted to predators that could include the family dog. All in all a great reference for the would be chicken farmer. I loved it!

⭐I am new to chickens and am halfway through reading this page cover to cover…I’ve even read ahead a bit! It’s a great summary to help you learn about chickens. It is the quality I expect from a “for Dummies” book. Highly recommend!

⭐I found this book to have some good information but it felt a little like a chore to get it out. The author often repeats content multiple times to the point where I occasionally thought I was reading the same page a second time. With that being said there is good and useful information in the book.

    ⭐Good book and very helpful
