Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s disease at the age of 32. I was shocked, worried and wondering where to go from the diagnosis. I went on amazon looking for informative books on the subject. This was perfect. Everything you could want to know is in this book. I Recommend this!

⭐Invaluable! A MUST READ for those suffering with Parkinson’s or with Parkinson’s like symptoms and their caregivers! And the best part is that we can understand it! Well written with some funny humor as well. We bought ours used from a third party and it was in good condition as promised.

⭐Parkinson’s Disease(PD) is only one of several afflictions involving degeneration of nerve cells. It is a slow moving disorder and a great deal can be done to extend the period of normalcy. If you or a loved one have any signs or symptoms that might be caused by PD, you should consult this general reference before you even consult your primary care physician. That is my suggestion for those with mild symptoms that go away within a few days. If symptoms last more than a week, arrange to meet with your doctor.Starting with a list of symptoms and signs to look for, this book also covers various other possible diseases. Current treatment for PD are covered. They include drugs used, diet considerations, exercises, and possible surgery to treat PD. Even alternative therapies are covered. While a cure for PD does not exist, it is very treatable. Research is ongoing, and much can be done to greatly reduce suffering and extend the period of relative normalcy. This book contains a great deal of useful information.

⭐If you or a loved one has Parkinson’s, order this book. It is a great guide on handling the disease and getting the help You need. After reading it I ordered three more books for my sister who has this disease and two caretakers. The book is especially easy to follow and is great for discussions, especially when you are dependent on phones for discussing what to do.

⭐Great compendium of useful basic information on PD for beginners. Learned more than expected from this easy to understand book!

⭐It’s a bit dated but establishes a good baseline of knowledge. I would recommend it but would like to see an updated version.

⭐Helpful information. When diagnosed felt alone and only me. Helped realize not alone and many famous people in same boat.

⭐not being a dummie myself, i found this book very informative & helpful – from the big information to tiny helpful hints. i would recommend it to anyone facing the confusion of PD. i am the caregiver for my husband & we now realize how many symptoms & signs we have missed along the way (probably a good thing.) lots of helpful info in here.a quick read, too.

⭐Basic and a little patronizing.I wanted something that would say it as it is in layman’s. terms. Which it does .it’s a book for PWP in the USA more than anything else. There were a couple of moments that made me think “yep that’s me ” but I skim read a lot because I found it a bit too dumbed down but then what should be expected from a book with such a title. If you’re a person with Parkinson’s ( I don’t call myself a sufferer ) and your uk based I would suggest this not the ideal book .I haven’t found the ideal book yet but I saw my community parkinsons nurse for first time today and she suggested stick with Parkinson’s Uk. Don’t let Parkinson’s define you . Stay positive it is what it is , you can’t get rid of it so the only choice is to carry on and let it “walk behind you”

⭐Parkinson’s Disease for Dummies’ is absolutley crammed with useful information: some of it encouraging, all of it realistic. I found Chapter 3 most helpful, the authors therein explain the 3 stages through which the disease progresses, clarifying symptoms that can otherwise to be skirted around. One criticism is that the guide is somewhat lacking in information about Early Stage PD, especially considering that this book is likely aimed at recently-diagnosed people with Parkinson’s. I ended up learning about more serious syptoms than are currently present, which both ‘scared and prepared’ me.For UK buyers, also be aware that this is an American book, with American advice on healthcare, American support groups, and American medication. This is the best you will find of this kind though, so you’ll just have have to buy more books for those answers; afterall having a collection of books on this subject can only be a good thing.

⭐Brilliant book even has a section on ypod (which I have, and is constantly told I’m to young to have pd). However it is aim more to the USA market I.e links , financial section etc. But it still a handy resource book..

⭐If you are new to Parkinsons disease this is good basic beginners guide, but it only scratches the surface and offers limited info.

⭐Many people and their partners faced with a diagnoses of Parkinson’s disease shy away from reading any books on the subject because they fear they will be full of doom and gloom: many are.In this book you not only have up to date information(March 07) but very up beat, positive, but realistic advice both to the P.W.P and their partner.Highly recommended
