⭐The book covers a broad range of mathematical topics at a level that is approachable for most people with some minor math background, but it also has great relationship advice. The author does a great job of teasing out useful insights from otherwise sexist research in many instances as well which I appreciate.

⭐I purchased the Mathematics of Love after watching one of Hannah Fry’s YouTube videos and visiting her website. The book is pitched as “valuable new perspective on matters of the heart” and promises to offer interesting mathematical insights into romance and love.Unfortunately, I found there was very little mathematics in the book and almost no love at all. I’m not sure who exactly the book is pitched at but I found the writing comparable to watching a TED talk: shallow, self-indulgent, and lacking in any punch or insight. Any actual mathematics is relegated to an index of footnotes and links, and the examples given don’t really illuminate anything. A quick search on the internet would’ve yielded more intrigue. The model of love presented is reductive and often times depressing, and contrary to the author’s claims does not leave one feeling particularly positive about the whole thing by the end of it.It claims on the cover to offer “patterns, proofs, and the search for the ultimate equation”. This search doesn’t happen and there are no proofs nor is there anything particularly mathematical contained within. Like a T.E.D marketing slogan: it offers it all and delivers nothing. The prose is dull and flat and the book can be read in less than an hour. Extremely short.Would not recommend for anyone interested in mathematics or love.

⭐Wow, for any intellectual who wants to look at dating from a different perspective, this book does a very, very good job of weaving complex theories in math, economics, and even psychology into the world of dating. The author definitely gets kudos for her job with her explanation of Nobel-prize winning ideas and relating them to the average person in the context of dating.Girls, this book explains (mathematically) why you’re on the losing end of the stick if you don’t approach guys. Guys, it is our privilege, not our burden to be the gender that does the approaching.

⭐The name of the book is not appropriately chosen for the content. as the author mentions in the preface the book is only about useful applications of mathematics in any romantic relationship from the start to the end of marriage. it doesn’t add any knowledge about love to the reader or help the reader to have a better comprehension of love even through the eyes of a mathematician.As I am finally an engineer, all in all I am happy that I read the book because it helped me to find well defined solutions for more decision making problems.

⭐Very interesting book with many fun facts about mathematis and love. Have I known them when I was teen I would have had different outcomes LOL

⭐Light and fun, the book provides entertaining examples of how mathematical thinking can be applied to pursuit, courtship, and even planning weddings. I would have liked to have seen more actual math or deeper analyses. But, still, it was a kick to read about how math can be used in this unexpected space and the research going on. I had a great time speaking with teenagers in my carpool and in my volunteer tutoring about it, hopefully waking them up to new ways of thinking about math.

⭐This was just what I needed.Using the logic of math, numbers, stats, research, etc, this book broke down the analytical side of dating and life. I loved this approach.The author read the book very well with just the right inflections, speed, and she kept my interest.

⭐One thing even a non-mathematician will agree upon, human behavior is a function of many factors. This book is simply and effectively a mathematician’s attempt to describe such human behaviors in the form of mathematical expressions consisting of equations with coefficients, variables and constants. Nicely written and effectively explained.

⭐I have to admit I am a fan of Hannah Fry, from her BBC radio / podcast series (the curious cases of rutherford & fry) as well as her youtube appearances (mostly on numberphile) so like her presentation style and sense of fun. This makes good (if shorter than I was expecting) material for commuting where you can have fun while convincing yourself you are being productive and learning new things.

⭐Never thought I’d read a maths book about never mind enjoy it but here we are. Very well written and Dr Fry’s humour and skill makes it understandable and relatable.

⭐Got this because of Hannah fry making things interesting on fry and Rutherford. She gives maths a real world feel. It is a great book

⭐Another excellent read by Hannah Fry. She goes through many interesting examples where mathematics can be applied to love. Only thing I would have loved is if she went into a bit more detail in some examples she went through.

⭐This is a well-written collection of insights of the application of maths to something in the real-world with which we can all identify. Very little ‘heavy’ maths. This isn’t a text-book – it’s a good read.
