Stephen Leather is one of the UK’s most successful thriller writers. He was a journalist for more than ten years on newspapers such as The Times, the Daily Mail and the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong. Before that, he was employed as a biochemist for ICI, shovelled limestone in a quarry, worked as a baker, a petrol pump attendant, a barman, and worked for the Inland Revenue. He began writing full time in 1992. His bestsellers have been translated into more than ten languages. He has also written for television shows such as London’s Burning, The Knock and the BBC’s Murder in Mind series. Two of his books, The Stretch and The Bombmaker, were made into movies. ⭐ I love the Spider Shepherd series. I have read some boring books and this is NOT one of them. I want to continue reading to find out what happens. I love the fact that when I am finished with one, there are other books in the series to continue with. If you don’t like action and real life happenings, then this book is not for you, but if you enjoy a book that is well written with the topics well researched and realistic, then read the Spider Shepherd series.

⭐ A very good light read that allowed me top escape into a story for a bit.

⭐ Stephen Leather’s writing style as ever makes for an interesting, informative, easy read with an action packed ending. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it.

⭐ Spider & his team set off from Cyprus to teach a desert tribe to guard their Sheikh. The Sheikh’s cousin it wanting to overthrow him & take over the the sheikh – dom & abducted the sheikh. Spider sets off to get him back.

⭐ Haven’t read it yet, but I’m sure it will be very good, I’ve read about 10 of his books and have never been let down, I’ve still got quite a few left on my kindle so it might be a while before I get to reading this book.

⭐ I actually prefer these anecdotes about Spiders previous life in the SAS to his later escapades as an undercover cop. Well written as always and with very good description and atmosphere of whichever country the story is based in….you can smell the desert and wonder at the lavish lifestyle of some lucky sheiks….! Probably not his best….hence 4 stars….but nevertheless a good read….perhaps too short as it leaves you wanting more….the lure of a good writer.
