⭐This book is filled with helpful information about how to go about writing your book in the required timeframe, or just quickly if you’re on a different schedule with practical tips and tricks. I picked up this book for my first ever serious attempt at NaNoWriMo. I’ve made some attempts before, but none nearly as serious as this one. (It’s always gonna be /this/ time isn’t it? I mean until it isn’t…)I really liked how encouraging the author was about how I could do it and found the tips to be infinitely helpful in my process. For example, it’s super important to focus on writing while you’re writing and completely ignore the editor altogether. And I mean altogether. What a huge release of burden that was!The only thing that I wish it had was an accompanying schedule so that I could figure out how to go about everything day-by-day and make sure I stayed on track. Book in a Month: The Fool-Proof System for Writing a Novel in 30 Days picked up that slack and was instrumental in my succes. (While I didn’t finish the full 50,000 words, between my friend and myself, we did finish our novel.)

⭐It will be a good study of your needs for writing. And it has everything for me. I can hardly put it away when I get in it. You’re amazing

⭐This is a good reference book, but a big share of it was repeats from other books I’ve read. What I did love was his section on characters and how to develop them. With all the prep work, your 30 day wonder should be decent.

⭐I’ve had the opportunity to attend three of Jeff’s workshops, the most-recent being a webinar based on this book. Perfect for NaNoWriMo! After the class, I jumped online and bought the book to gear up for the event.Jeff is one of my favorite instructors. Not only does he offer great advice for novel writing, he does it with good examples, often movies. This book is the same with a “so that’s what they’re doing” revelation as to why we fall in love with certain heroes and heroines, why a book is a classic, or why a movie grips us so tightly.

⭐Of course all of Jeff Gerke’s writing advice books are great. Why I liked this one is that it pulls together the writing process; especially how to do the review or edit of the first draft and look for the weak areas and make them better. Although the book is concise, it still includes many of his great writing tips that simply makes you want to read his other books – all are great.

⭐Although I am not participating in Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month) or even trying to fast pace a novel, this book has a lot of valuable information and insight into getting organized in the writing process, figuring out plot and is also great for learning character development. I’m not a seasoned writer but it is something I have always loved to do. Now that I am trying my hand at getting serious and writing a full length novel, this book has been incredibly helpful.

⭐I haven’t read the whole book yet, but that is because his steps are so focused, applicable, and sequential from chapter to chapter that I really had to start writing in order to continue reading the book! Jeff Gerke’s writing style is very down-to-earth, entertaining, succinct, and clear. His steps for writing your novel are readily adaptible to just about every writer’s approach to planning (or lack thereof). Reading this book is like having a friend and a very motivating coach in one. I highly recommend it!

⭐Cuando sabes que quieres escribir pero no sabes cómo o por dónde empezar; cuando te sobrepasa la temida página en blanco, el libro de Jeff Gerke te puede ayudar a avanzar, con pasos medidos y fáciles de entender, en tu proceso de creación. Claro que tendrás que poner de tu parte, hacer los ejercicios y tomarte en serio tu propósito de escribir pero este libro puede ayudarte a escribir tu primer borrador en un tiempo razonable. Recomendable para todos los que nos sentimos atascados en nuestros proyectos literarios.
