⭐DEFINETELY WORTH READING

⭐It is the first textbook I find that truly takes you by the hand to do a grand tour on the different concepts of justice throughout time, and how the have evolved, from the babylonians to Rawls. Not a sophisticated text. It is excellent for those of us wanting to learn about the history of justice without having to do all the research that this complex process would normally involve. I think it’s a very valuable resource to those of us students who have not been exposed to the philosophical perspective of justice before. The title itself declares its purpose as a “brief history”, and obviously not targeted for professional scholars, but sometimes “brief” can be hollow and boring, and I found this book interesting, quite educational and fun. I think it fulfills its promise right there where expectations are!

⭐Very well-written and accessible survey of the concept’s historical forms. In my view it would have been better if it were longer, with more non-Western sources of understanding and a richer theoretical treatment (but then yeah, it would have been a different book)
