⭐As someone pursuing their PhD in model theory, and having read other standard references like Hodges, Marker, Chang & Keisler, etc, I would like to say that this book is one of the best model theory books ever written. Every book has its own purpose, of course, but I feel that the authors were very meticulous in the way in which they structured the development of the theory, wording of lemmas and theorems, proof techniques chosen. I could give specific examples when comparing with, say, Hodges smaller book. This was done so as to emphasize, at an early stage, important model theoretic themes. The exercises are great, the book is concise, and you can feel comfortable moving on to more serious extensions of the subject, e.g. geometric stability theory, after having read this book.
