User’s Reviews

Editorial Reviews: Review “Expertly written and highly accessible, the new edition of Ancient Greece is a superb example of how the history of Greek civilization should be analyzed and presented to students and a general audience. Of special note is the inclusion of new findings and interpretations that bring the narrative up to date. I know of no comparable textbook on the political, social, military, and cultural story of the ancient Greeks that matches it in range, depth, and approachability.”–Joseph Roisman, Colby College”Ancient Greece is an excellent choice for those seeking a comprehensive treatment of ancient Greek history. Its chronological reach is long, and it devotes a great deal of attention to social and cultural topics along with the standard political and military ones.”–Eric Wild Robinson, Indiana University”Expertly written and highly accessible, the new edition of Ancient Greece is a superb example of how the history of Greek civilization should be analyzed and presented to students and a general audience. ⭐Required for a college class. Factual, straight forward in design. More concise than other history books. Each chapter is not too lengthy and not a difficult read. Pictures were great.

⭐The description of the state of the book was accurate. There were no unexpected surprises.

⭐Required reading good thing Amazon had it.

⭐Blandly written.

⭐OK

⭐Bought for class. I enjoy it, only wish pictures were in color.

⭐I’m reading this along with Donald Kagan’s first year course which is available free on Yale’s website. It’s a subject about which I knew nothing, and I’m finding it fascinating. Good book, and good lectures.

⭐A useful and fairly comprehensive text.

⭐Fantastic book for my daughters university course and much cheaper than the bookshops the university recommended.

⭐Read for a class, wouldn’t have read it otherwise

⭐Good, no complaints
