Description

Zach Barrows is a cocky, ambitious White House employee until he’s abruptly transferred out and partnered with Nathaniel Cade, a secret agent sworn to protect the president. But Cade is no ordinary civil servant. Bound 140 years ago by a special blood oath, Nathanial Cade is a vampire. On the orders of the president he defends the nation against enemies far stranger-and even more dangerous-than civilians like Zach could ever imagine.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I read several of the Nathanial Cade books out of sequence and this is the first one. In the other books I noticed the author runs out of ideas about 2/3 of the way thru and the last 50 pages or so are just repetitious descriptions of blood and guts. And this is where it started. 2/3 of the way thru, he ran out of ideas and, except for the few pages at the end for a close-out, just pages of blood and gore. I’d just read a few words on each page and go on to the next until they stopped.

⭐Many U.S. Presidents have had pets. Thomas Jefferson had a mockingbird and two bear clubs, John Quincy Adams had an alligator, Martin Van Buren had two tiger cubs and Theodore Roosevelt had a hyena, zebra and a flying squirrel among several other animals. Our fictional president, Curtis, has Nathaniel Cade, a Vampire who has sworn a “blood oath” to serve the President of the United States & protect the country from all enemies domestic and foreign, human and otherworldly beings and creatures.Nathaniel Cade is paired with Zach Barrows, a young rising star in the political world to replace the human liaison who oversees/assists Cade. This vampire-human relationship gets off to a rocky start, but soon they must deal with terrorists, a malevolent politician, a rogue sociopathic agent, & a nearly immortal evil genius and his monsters.I enjoyed the action adventure, thrills, chills and humor in the story, and look forward to the next Cade adventure. My only complaint is that I thought it was anticlimactic that none of the three major villains met with a permanent end or confinement, and that Cade only decided to pursue the “loose end” who was the guy who was semi-coerced into helping the terrorists.

⭐While the book certainly did have decent action, and the premise was interesting, the execution was rather poor. He couldn’t decide on consistent rules for how things worked, and simply grabbed solutions out of clean air at times which made little enough sense. I get that the ‘briefings’ information was meant to be iffy, but the actual action and rules by which things occurred were inconsistent. Then the story wraps up in such a way as to imply that the main characters moral struggle get tossed to the curb? What? I have no desire to continue the series whatsoever.Author also had a political grudge he couldn’t keep under wraps for some reason, which would seem like a way to alienate half your audience.

⭐I nad not read of the President’s Vampire Nathanial Cade. This first book in the Farnsworth written series introduces us to Cade , the 140 year old vampire who was enlisted by president Andrew Johnson and who took a blood oath( thus explaining the.title.of the initialt book).Cade is bound to protect the American president and to follow the orders the orders of his representatives .We enter the story at the changing of the guard .agent Griffin Whatever his last name was maybe Hawkins is old and dying.of cancer.Young Zach Barrows a presidential aide caught in bed with the presidents daughter Candace is named the new trainee presidents laiason with Cade. But the training period consists of less than an hour before.crises occurs and we switch to fairly dramatic page turning OJT. Certainly.interesting enough that I look forward to returning the series when I need a non thinking action break.

⭐What you have here is something unique. Something special. This isn’t your average vampire story. There is no romance. The drama you find here is about what horror comes next. You will squirm as the horrors reveal themselves. Our greatest Hero sees us as live stock. We are weak to him and no more than a fly. He will do whatever it takes to save the United States. He is the President’s Vampire. He has taken a Blood Oath to follow all lawful orders given to him. He is our only defense in the war on horror.

⭐Has become a favorite already. I found this paperback at a Half Price Books during Texas worst snowstorm in my life. When I finished it in 48 hours I went to Kindle to get #2, and bought the whole series. I love Cade and his patriotism, and even lack of humanity. The young Zach is growing up before our eyes (not sure that is a spoiler) it is watching his character grow. This book is a great combination of a political thriller and supernatural novel.

⭐With all the fluff, cutesy, sweet romance vampires out there it’s nice to see authors like Christopher Farnsworth writing a vampire novel you can really sink your teeth into. This book has it all: action, mystery, secret agents, scary vampires, damsels in distress (Well, sort of), villains that would do any James Bond movie proud, even a new sidekick. Nathaniel Cade is a scary man, of course he’s not a man at all but a vampire and not just any vampire but the Presidents Vampire.. He is our last line of defense against all of the things that go bump in the night. Sworn to a blood oath over a century ago Mr. Cade protects our country from not only terrorists and other man made evils but also the horrors that must remain invisible to the common man. I had a great time with this book. It was action packed and was a very fast read. The book had a nice flow and doesn’t ever get bogged down in pointless details or fluff to extend the pages. I’ve seen some reviewers saying it read’s more like a movie and maybe it’s because Mr. Farnsworth write screenplay’s but I think his writing fits his characters perfectly. Mr. Cade is not a deep person (at least on the outside). He doesn’t bemoan his situation, doesn’t sit and whine oh why me, poor me. He only does one thing and he does it well but at the same time I feel that we haven’t even scratched the surface with him and belive Mr. Farnsworth has left so much more of his past for later. This was a great debut novel. It’s very James Bond meets … well Vampires. The villians are top notch. They are mean, ruthless yet at no time do they feel fake or too over the top. There are so many things going on with the villians and shadowy organizations that you just know you’ll be hearing more from them in the future. The action sequences are good and you get these brief looks into Mr. Cade’s mind here and there. I for one can’t wait to read more. The next book is already in the mail.

⭐I can understand why a Hollywood studio has bought the rights to turn Christopher Farnworth’s Blood Oath into a movie. In terms of structure and pacing it feels almost like a screenplay in novel form, with short chapters, some less than three pages long, feeling just like scenes from a film, flashbacks within the text and a constant momentum that leads up to a big set-piece denoument. It should be great up on screen. Its also great on the page. If a mixture of action thriller, spy novel, horror story, alternative history and supernatural adventure sounds like your kind of thing then you’ll enjoy Blood Oath. Its by no means a deep novel and it the premise is a hodge-podge of different inspirations (I was reminded heavily of the X-Files with the mixture of alternative history, hidden conspiracies and the supernatural) but as an entertaining adrenalin ride its difficult to fault. I polished it off in the space of a few days, the first time I’ve done that with a book in a while. As with many books in the sci-fi, fantasy or horror genres Bood Oath is intended to be the first of a series. As such it has a great deal of promise. Farnsworth includes enough hints at complex and interwoven back stories and mysteries to get the reader interested in seeing where Cade and Zach’s adventures take them. Given enough time he may even be able to develop the series into something far richer and more complex and satisfying. Jim Butcher managed to do this with the Dresden Files, progressing gradually from noirish supernatural mysteries such as

⭐Storm Front (Dresden Case Files)

⭐to full blown epics with large and well developed casts and deep mythologies such as the latest

⭐Changes: The Dresden Files

⭐. Given that Christopher Farnsworth shows real talent as a writer I am confident that he could do the same.Until he does however, I’ll be happy to pick up the next Nathaniel Cade novel just for the ride.

⭐I started reading this book after my brother had recommended it, we both enjoy sci fi, horror, thriller, action etc books. This one did not dissapoint, so much so that I am now on the 3rd book in this series and will be waiting patiently for the 4th book.It is a standard ‘buddy’ book, a reluctant partner being teamed with a very special agent in the employ of the current President. The scrapes they get into uncovering plots and sub plots is well written. Its a great read that I would happily recommend to someone that is looking to escape for a few hours into a book and not worry too much about how it would relate to the real world

⭐Though supposed to be a vampire story this is mostly cod’s wallop about demons created by an evil vice-president of the USA (probably it’s very confused) and there is little action b y the president’s vampire – Cade. Not really worth reading

⭐Very visual, well written tale, imagine something between 24 and Lost Boys…. can just imagine the ‘Undead Soldiers’ in a movie version. Laughed out loud at the names used, Cushing and Lee, historical allusion but little homage to afficionados of the vampire genre! Different, topical take on perpetual battle between good and evil, and who really are the bad guys?Enjoyable holiday read on kindle app on my windows phone.

⭐Its hard to compare this book, maybe think about the ex heroes series combined with the orphan x books. Such a good read.
