In Bravo of the Brazos, Robert K. DeArment tells for the first time the complete story of this enigmatic and controversial figure.Larn was good-looking, well-mannered, and gentle around women and children. He was a successful rancher and renowned frontier sheriff. Yet he was also the charismatic leader of a vigilante committee that enjoyed widespread support. Before his death at age 29, Larn had killed or participated in killing at least a dozen men.

User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I’m finding this one of the best books that I have read on the life of John Larn and his buddy John Selman. I have bought a number of the books that are out there dealing with their life and history. As I am doing family genealogy on John Selman and his wife Edna DeGraffenried, this book was very helpful. Just the new twist in John Larn’s name was interesting to me. Was he John Larn, John Laurens, John Lawrence, with the name changes and which side of the law? In this book I have found a number of sources, truths, and new facts. It is also a great read, and the tie between a number of these families is well covered in this book.

⭐Real life drama on a day to day basis. History is true to fact with footnotes as to where to the author found the information, in writing the book the book. I recommend anyone interested in western history to read this book!

⭐Yeah it did, meet my expectations. John Larn was quite a character in the Fort Griffin, Texas area. He and his partner were two men I don’t think you would mess with and get away with it. I find this account pretty much in detail of John Larn’s life. I liked the way it was presented.

⭐Once again Robert K. DeArment gives us a great book for those of us who love to read well researched history on fansinating but little know historical characters. It shares the quality writting of DeArment’s other books and has you looking forward to his next book. A must read for those who enjoy reading Western Non Fiction.

⭐This was a very interesting story about an individual that I was not familiar with. This was one tough guy you didn’t want to cross. Mr. DeArment is a pre-eminent writer of people and places of the Old West. I’ve read five of his books and all are outstanding.

⭐Five Stars for sure. A fantastic book on a little know person. I haven’t really heard a lot about John Larn. If I did read something about him I don’t remember because it was probably something small. I will remember him now. If you like the wild west at its best, cattle rustling, shooting, & just bad men, get this book.

⭐Well written and researched. Sets the context well
