Description

This textbook provides an introduction to classical mechanics at a level intermediate between the typical undergraduate and advanced graduate level. This text describes the background and tools for use in the fields of modern physics, such as quantum mechanics, astrophysics, particle physics, and relativity. Students who have had basic undergraduate classical mechanics or who have a good understanding of the mathematical methods of physics will benefit from this book.

User’s Reviews

Editorial Reviews: Review “The book is written such that for each topic to be understood, each topic is presented with the minimum necessary material. This is good for those who do not like to waste time by reading unnecessary pages and pages discussing the same subject. The examples are very well chosen, they are the ones that every serious student of the subject must know.” (P. R. S. Carvalho, zbMATH 1408.70001, 2019) From the Back Cover This textbook provides an introduction to classical mechanics at a level intermediate between the typical undergraduate and advanced graduate level. Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I purchased this book for self study, but the book has no solutions or a solutions manual to check for understanding. This was a missed opportunity to be an outstanding classical mechanics book.

⭐This textbook represents a mathematical point of view on mechanics. I think it is suitable for graduate students, but undergraduates might still find selected chapters relevant. As an academic teacher, I used it as a secondary textbook for my undergraduate students (they had a primary textbook that was much simpler; additionally, I made them read selected sections from this textbook to show how mechanics can be treated on graduate level).
