Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐this book explains how to be a consultant if you are a dummy. i think it could work for people who are not dummies but just a little dumb, not a complete dummy

⭐I think this book is very well written and gives a great introduction to what it takes to become a private consultant. It discusses various aspects of what it takes to start for yourself, gives a solid intro on the general concept of consulting, and focuses on the important “salesman” aspect of consulting. Check out the extensive table of contents to exactly see what you are getting. Some reviewers complain that there are not enough specifics and that there are better books–I think it all depends on what you are looking for. As an introduction to private consulting in a broad sense, I would advise this as the go-to first book. After reading this, you will have an excellent idea about what to look for next.Sure, for detailed business-building aspects of private consulting, there are authors like Alan Weiss (who essentially spends 300 pages explaining why you should use value-based pricing for your consulting). For hardcore management consulting, there are titles like “The McKinsey Way”. This book is very broad, and hence it does not have tremendous depth in such specialized subjects, but I feel that is to be expected.

⭐This is probably my 10th book in the Dummies series. Predictably, experienced consultants will not find much new in here, but might appreciate some good reminders. If you’re just starting out, this covers all the basics for you. Read this, then you’ll know which areas to focus in on with more specialized publications.

⭐This is definitely a working-person’s book. It described just enough of the product to get your core concepts down and how to apply it to your product (the products being the consulting business, of course). It skips over a lot of theory and just gets down to the “how to do it” aspects of the job. I would highly recommend this book.

    ⭐Great read.

⭐excellent book for the beginner in the consulting arena, easily to understand very detailed in explaining how to become a consultant or become a better one!

⭐Information is a good reference for presentations and writing. Easy to use and priced right. Handy on the shelf guide.

⭐Very comprehensive treatment of the topic of consulting. I benefited from both the marketing advice and instructions on writting contracts.

⭐Loved it, its great, handy hints, tips and ooodles of info, just set up my own Marketing Consultancy and am using what I got from the book.

⭐Un libro muy práctico bien escrito.. me gusto como va tocando los temas el autor para los que estamos pensando dedicarnos a la consultoría ….

    ⭐Not found.

⭐Several ideas may motivate … Today I have my own business after reading. All you need is available at one place from. Forming to Billing.

⭐I did not finished the book yet but the chapters I have read show that it is a very good book for somebody starting or working now as a consultant.

⭐This is a very thorough book and it does offer many great ideas and plans, however I found it “too American”, if you know what I mean.I had high hopes for this book, but then found so much of it wasn’t applicable for starting a consulting business in Canada. It wasn’t just the way things were worded. For ideas and inspiration, I think this is a good book. But for practicality, not so good.If I lived in America and wanted to start a consulting firm there, this would be one of my bibles. But I don’t, and I can’t, so this book has actually been passed along to a friend (for inspiration), and I don’t want it back.
