Description

You know those days when you just can’t even? When everything is haywire and everyone, including yourself, seems to be against you? Your to-do list is a mile long, your kid is sick, traffic sucks, and you just spilled coffee all over yourself as you were about to walk out the door? How do you cope? We guess you could say “”f*ck it”” and go back to bed with a bottle of whiskey at 10 a.m., but check out these more sustainable and helpful alternatives by Dr. Faith first. This is the first book of its kind to break down coping skills by type of situation. Includes skills from CBT, DBT, ACT, Positive Psychology, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Somatic Experiencing, Jungian therapy, and more.

User’s Reviews

Editorial Reviews: Review This book is a wonderful change from all the dry, dull, writing I usually read on a daily basis.– “Allen Novian, PhD, LMFT, LPC-S, Adjunct Professor at St. Mary’s University, on Unf*ck Your Brain” About the Author Faith G. Harper is a bad-ass, funny lady with a PhD. She’s a licensed professional counselor, board supervisor, certified sexologist, and applied clinical nutritionist with a private practice and a consulting and training business in San Antonio, Texas. She has been an adjunct professor and a TEDx presenter and proudly identifies as a woman of color and uppity, intersectional feminist. She is the author of several highly popular “”five-minute therapy”” zines on subjects such as anxiety, depression, and grief.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐reading this along with her other books that she has published is incredibly helpful

⭐I checked this out as an ebook from my county’s library, using the Libby app. I would totally recommend it to friends & family – in fact I’m planning to recommend it to several people already! I could see how owning it would be good, so U can refer to it (there’s so much packed in there, if might be helpful to be able to have it on hand as a reference- or to pass it on to the next person in your life who needs it!)Yes there are a few “bad” words. No, this did not bother me in the least.Took me about an hour and a half to read the whole thing. Some of the methods I was already familiar w/, many were new to me, all were helpful!

⭐Great ideas

⭐May have been a good book if the “f” and “s” words were not used. The f word is how most of us come into this world. It’s called “reproduction”. The other word is how humans eliminate waste from their bodies. Why turn these functions into something else? A cheap way to get attention. And this author is a therapist? It was a mistake to buy this book. What a waste.

⭐A lot of curse words and less real coping skills.

⭐This book put me off real quick with its copious use of curse words. Not literarily thin- skinned, it bothered me enough to count, and behold: there are 69 occurrences of the s-word, 53 of the f-word, and many milder ones that Amazon nevertheless won’t let me say (I tried, and had my review flagged. Funny). But I wanted to give this an honest and unbiased try, so I went ahead and edited the profanities out, ending up with a much more palatable booklet. I say booklet because the content barely spans 70 very small (think Kindle) pages – apparently it was written as a “zine” first. It’s also not clear for whom this was written – I was looking for ways to cope with work stress, but found this booklet is all over the place. That may not be a bad thing per se, but together with its shortness, there is barely any space to go into any depth. For example, there is one chapter that lists 25 ways to cope, with just a sentence or two of explanation. Things like: Chew gum. Cry. Take a bath. Drink water. Strike a pose. Try a Tibetan singing bowl. And I feel like I gave away half the book now, it’s just so .. thin.

⭐I swear as frequently as the next guy, but I know when and where it is “appropriate to swear,” a serious book is not one of those places.I don’t know if the author is just this vulgar or trying a “How Do You Do Fellow Kids?” to sound cool, but the f-word is so repeated, it gets old fast.Anyone who thinks it’s cool to drop the f-bomb every 5 seconds definitely needs to grow up, and I’m not willing to read anything from an immature author.

⭐Anything from this author … Faith Harper is worth it. She is an awesome author and holds ur attention on subjects that would be usually boring. Warning there is expletive language.
