Description

Focus on the development, implementation, and application of modern DSP techniques with DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING USING MATLAB, 3E. Written in an engaging, informal style, this edition immediately captures your attention and encourages you to explore each critical topic. Every chapter starts with a motivational section that highlights practical examples and challenges that you can solve using techniques covered in the chapter. Each chapter concludes with a detailed case study example, a chapter summary with learning outcomes, and practical homework problems cross-referenced to specific chapter sections for your convenience. DSP Companion software accompanies each book to enable further investigation. The DSP Companion software operates with MATLAB and provides intriguing demonstrations as well as interactive explorations of analysis and design concepts.

User’s Reviews

Editorial Reviews: Review “The author’s approach seems to me to be good and logical. The balance between theory, applications and using computer tools (MATLAB, etc.) for verification is a very good balance. The concepts are well presented and described. The examples are more than adequate. The illustrations are in general very good. The range of topics discussed is very good. Using MATLAB is a plus.””Organization of material is fine. The approach to the topics presented in the text is good and it is consistent with the educational and learning process. The authors are paying attention to the level of the student’s understanding and the need to motivate and illustrate concepts with examples and problem descriptions and guidance to appropriate solutions. The authors use good graphics, good side notes, good demarcations to break pace and mark important concepts as side-bars that pull the student’s attention.””I like the inclusion of a chapter summary at the end of each chapter. I think these short summary sections play an important role in the learning process. Overall, this is a solid textbook! Of course, the use of MATHLAB examples has become the standard in DSP courses, and it is well-represented in this textbook.” About the Author Robert J. Schilling is Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clarkson University. Dr. Schillings teaching interests include digital signal processing, control systems, robotics, nonlinear systems, computer graphics, and C++ and MATLAB programming. His research interests encompass adaptive signal processing, nonlinear system identification, active noise control, and control of robotic manipulators.Bio: Sandra L. Harris is Associate Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at Clarkson University. Dr. Harriss teaching interests include process control, thermodynamics, and biochemical engineering. Her research interests center around periodic processing, control of systems having varying dead times, and the generation of input signals for efficient process identification.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐* PhysicalThe book is around 800 pages long, with mix of grey scale pictures and graphs, no colour plates, excepting the covers. Mine is a softback and cost me around £30.* Prerequisites (optional)These optional books covered the technical areas of signal processing in a friendly way, but lacked the added depth and spread, level of knowledge in the Schilling book. This being due to these optional books being written before this the Schilling book, but they are still helpful to digest Digital Signal Processing topics. Some of these books i have not bought through Amazon, and with Amazon rules ,mean i can’t write a review of them, bar for the titles of ‘Digital Signal Processing using Matlab’ by Ingle and Proakis, and ‘Contemporary Linear Systems’ by Strum and Kirk. And as required the two strouds. It’s helpful to have and algebraic background too.* Target audience, A-Level / H.N.D, undergraduate, postgraduate? This book could be tackled with H.N.D math which covers Laplace only. But to grasp the denser stuff requires 2nd year degree Electrical and Electronic studies with additional mathematical background studies. This book shows a grand showing of the theory of digital Signal Processing. When i studied this topic formally, the contents in my course and this books were the same. This is the 2017 printing of a 2015 edition of the book. So it’s up – to -date for a formal book. The optional books made quick headway though the topics, but you could do the same with this book as it covers the same stuff. The studies of filters has been a boon, grasping these areas so clearly that my previous confusion has been much reduced!* SummaryYou require some Laplace, and some Fourier analysis background to make headway here. This book is beautiful to read and really clearly shows what to grasp the theoretical side of this engineering science. I really learned new theoretical stuff despite doing a course in it for my previous studies.Don’t go for the first book price, as it can be heavy. Search the available prices and see which is the best for you. It’s a really helpful exploration that’s beautifully knitted together and helpfully explains the topics you need to grasp in a glorious way!
