Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐My husband told me that if I read about dogs first then he would consider getting one. Yes, it was cheeky of him and I so I bought this book! We have had our pound puppy boxer/lab 7 yr old female for the last 6 months. So glad I read this first as being a cat owner for 18 years did not prepare me for being a canine pet parent.Covers everything you ever wanted to know about owning a dog. My recommendations are: baby gates, carpet cleaner, a great vet, and a groomer. 🙂 The book covers everything… including scooting across the carpet. If you are thinking about a dog or this is your first dog and you are stuggling – buy this book.
⭐Unbelievably informative, this book answers all my questions. Referred to constantly
⭐This book has the information I need.
⭐Comprehensive and complete!
⭐I am mostly a cat person since I am a cat behavorist but I have been trying my best and working hard to understand dogs better on a behavioral level such as I do cats. This book provided a lot of information about dogs that will help me build up the base knowledge I need to learn more and grow more from additional material that I have purchased today. Dogs are really fascinating creatures and reading this book really taught me a lot about them in regards to the behaviors that they perform and why they do them. It also provides insight into things like chewing, biting, puppy training, grooming, and so on which are very important topics.Highly recommended.
⭐Contains so much information since it combines several “Dogs for Dummies” books. Pretty much anything you want to know. I used it several times during the six weeks we had our dog.
⭐This really is a great one-spot resource for all dog owners. It wasn’t as specific to adopted dogs as I needed, but a really great general tool overall. It probably isn’t the only book you need to be professional quality, as it doesn’t address many of the needs of certain dogs, but it’s a great overview for a first time owner or pet sitter.
⭐I ordered this book, being a new adopter of a shelter dog. My family has found this very useful from the most basic to detailed question. It is helping us to enjoy and train our new dog. Thank you!
⭐A really good purchase. TBH I’m still working my way through (it’s actually 12 books after all) – but already my copy is full of stickies to jump back to useful info. It’s ‘American’ in its view of the world and the organisations it mentions, but not to an annoying extent – you just have to look for organisational equivalents (products are pretty much universal now) and transpose a few cultural norms.
⭐Before getting my puppy a few years ago, I bought this book to find out what I was letting myself in for. Even though nothing can quite convey the shock of getting a new puppy for the first time, this book did an excellent job of preparing me for dog ownership. Pretty much every aspect of doggy life is covered in the book, and it’s written in a straight forward and easy to understand manner. So many ‘training’ books have very strange ideas about how to train your dog, but here you will find some balanced advice on dog training, as well as health, breeds and other topics. All in all, a good ‘overview’ of dog ownership, with plenty of great information and advice.
⭐Bought this book as we have just had a new puppy but the book goes into too much detail as most of it is common sense especially if you have had dogs before but this is brilliant as a reference tool. When reading it you need to remember it is published for the American market so the terminology is sometimes different.
⭐brilliant thanks naomi rossiter
⭐A great all in one for dog lovers everywhere!! Learned loads about our new arrival – would recommend to all
