⭐First off, this touches on just about every possible topic in Numerical Analysis.The problem is that it gives long descriptions, long derivations, but very few useful equations. Just before describing applicability it goes into a generalized example that doesn’t fully utilize what it spent pages deriving. So it explains a lot but doesn’t provide many useful equations for applying things, it basically expects you to base your own formula off what it derives. I didn’t find may examples particularly useful.

⭐This textbook is the correct one and has all of the information that it is supposed to have. I couldn’t even tell that this book has been used before: the quality is perfect. Best of all, the price is significantly lower than that of your typical college bookstore. I paid only 1/4 to 1/7 of what I could have ended up paying at the bookstore just to RENT!

⭐Took a lot longer than expected to arrive (nearly a month to arrive). The book is exactly as described and exactly what I needed for class.

⭐i use this book often as an applied math major, and it has been a great reference for me for codes or examples. it just doesnt explain certain concepts very well, and it should go more in depth when it comes to certain numerical methods.

⭐The book is a chore to read. Many excersizes reference other parts of the book, requiring you to flip back and forth between sections. The proofs are almost all hand waved. The book has obvious typos as well. The book is more appropriate for a high school course than a college one- if you are a mathematician, you will find this book offensive. Buy if you need it for a class, but as a student who was subjected to this book for an entire semester, I highly recommend against using it.Oh, and the cover is hideous.

⭐I am taking it for my Numerical Analysis Course and I am majoring in Computer Science, so I have some problems connecting the dots as the book doesn’t explain anything, just present them as what they are without an actual explanation.

⭐When a mathematician says “Elementary”, it is not likely that your definition is the same as his/hers. Unreadable, scary, and downright condescending at some points, but that description could easily apply to the vast majority of books in which the author attempts to lord his or her superior mathematical skill over you, the reader. If you have to read this book for the exercises, you should plan on smacking your head into this book repeatedly while trying to glean some semblance of knowledge from its cryptic pages.

⭐Clear and concise, answer bank is not that large.
